I was thinking about getting a Kershaw, but I can't decide which one to get.

I've narrowed it down to 3.

Skyline

Blitz

JYD 1

Other suggestions in this price range are welcome.

Try a RAM, or a Groove or a Zing ? If you are looking for a great intro blade for Kershaw then the Skyline is an excellent choice.

Tostig

Another vote for the Skyline. Inexpensive but not cheap. Quick deployment, razor sharp out of the box and easy to keep that way. The lock-up on mine is tight with no blade play. Comfortable in the hand as well.

Erd, what are you looking to use the knife for? Any idea on what features you would like? What is the price range?

The Scamp is a bit more of a beefy version of the Skyline. Although it doesn't have a flipper, it has a slightly longer blade and handle (with the handle-end tapering to a mid-point tip, good for impact use,) and is a two material handle (G-10/metal, for ease of drawing out of pockets.) It comes as tip-down carry, and the screws are an absolute bugger to remove if you want to switch it around for tip-up carry (best use vise-grips, rather than hex-bits.)

I vote for the zing, I purchased both the zing and skyline, and the skyline didn't last long. I also purchased a zing tanto, the flipper action is sooo smooth.

Good luck

Good knife too, I had no problem with the screws on mine, the knife feels great in the hand

I LOVE the Skylines... I'd wholeheartedly recommend one, although I like the Zing and the OD as well.... and the Ram... heck, even the Chill. Get one of each...

+1 Skyline. Super lightweight and big blade considering the slim handle. I don't expect blade play on any liner locks by design as it should be.

I don't own any of the three knives you mentioned, but I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

The traditional Blade Forums answer is "Buy them all!" and decide which one you like best and either keep, return or sell the other 2. :D

Kershaw usually uses Loctite on their knife screws. Heating the screw with a soldering iron or soaking the knife in hot water softens the Loctite and makes removal easier.

The JYD I is a fantastic knife; I love it. It has been in my pocket uninterrupted for 3 weeks now. I love the handle (including the Air Force theme), love the blade shape, love the grind... I even like the funky clip. Lockup is nice and solid, and the handle has a great feel.

My only complaint is that the end of the thumb ditch kinda digs into the thumb during heavy use. That, and the steel doesn't hold an edge as long as some others. I'd rate it at a little below VG-10.

I got mine for $27 total from a local shop, and I think I'm going to go back and get a couple more.

Another vote for the Skyline, but more importantly...

Where did you get the digital camo Skyline!

Oh I know the traditional Bladeforums answer.:D

Yet another vote for the Skyline. IMO, it's one of the very best values for the money in the knife world.

As far as additional suggestions in the same price range, the Leek is another Kershaw classic, assuming you don't mind an assisted opener.

I would get a zing over a skyline. Skyline is actually one of my least favorite Kershaws. Zing is so much beefier while still being a nice small size.

+1, Also instead of using hex bits try using torx next time, like t-6 or t-8 ;)
