Can be deassisted and are a good manual flipper/folder? Im not a big fan of spring assisted knives which takes a lot of current kershaws off the table for me. But if they can be deassisted then sweet!!! Another knife to buy!!! :p the one knife i heard of that brought this question to mind was the g10 cryo. I saw a video on youtube saying it could be but a video isnt enough for me. So for a starter, can the g10 cryo be deassisted and still work like a good flipper? And what other kershaw models make good manual knives?? Thanks again guys!!!

I don't know if the G10 Cryo can be de-assisted. My regular Cryo (1555TI) doesn't have a detent hole drilled, so it needs the torsion bar to hold it shut. If you want to de-assist it, could try drilling a detent hole yourself.

The Cyclone (discontinued) and Volt II can also be de-assisted. Both worked fine de-assisted for me, but I eventually put the torsion bar back in both.

It's not a flipper, but I've read a number of good opinions about de-assisted Blurs. Personally, I haven't tried de-assisting any of mine.

I'd be interested in a good list of kershaw that have a detent and can thus be deassisted. The blur I had was this way. Not a flipper but made a very nice manual knife.

The G-10 Cryo cannot be deassisted, unfortunately, (unless you want to drill your own detent, which some people have done) and neither can my Volt II (I have the FRN Version). The Blur is great deassisted, and I know the Needs Work and Zing SS have a detent as well. My Zing SS can flip, but it's not particularly smooth compared to my regular Zing. Likewise, the Needs Work needs a bit of wrist action to open.

Of course, it might be easier to just get a knife actually meant to be a manual. The Injection is a great knife, and the Chill and Skyline are both amazing flippers at very reasonable price points. The Strobe and upcoming Nura look nice, too, but I haven't handled them.

So how hard is it to drill a detent then? Ive seen it done on the cryo but i never really thought about it.

So far from what you guys have told me this is what there is. Ill add to the list when i find more or if somebody adds more.

Cyclone
volt II
ss zing
needs work
Blur

Skyline is a great flipper, the strobe has KVT. I deassisted my blur and I can thumb flip great.

As long as it has some detent and a surface to flip with it could work.
