Okay fellers, I'm looking for a knife for my birthday. I usually allot myself about $50 per month for a knife, but I am going to allot myself about $100 this time. I am looking at buying productions, and won't mind going a couple dollars over. From my want list, these are the ones I really want to get, that are presumably in the $100 range. I am currently saving up for two customs, and the higher end productions are not feasible at this time. I would like to get a folder, but I am also looking for a fixed blade.

I'm looking at the ones below

Benchmade Nimravus Cub
Benchmade Outbounder
Buck 315 yachtsmans knife
Case amber full size Copperlock
Cold Steel Ozark Hunter (if it can be found I'm buying it right away)
Kershaw 1610 Centofante
Kershaw Splinter (I already have the quince wood version, looking for the other version)
Schrade 1080T
Spyderco Native black blade
Spyderco Police (do not want ss handle, only g10, cf etc)
Spyderco Spyderfly

Thanks for all of your help, I'm either going to go with a combo, or just one knife. Of course I want them all right now, but then I wouldn't have the fun of choosing just one :D . (Or 2, or 3, or 4, or 5... )

For just a slight overrun in your budget I'd look at the Microtech MSE or the Protech TR-3. IMHO, both are better than anything on your list.

On you list I'd go with the Spyder Military or Police model. However the more I listen the better things I'm hearing about the Spyderco Pacific Salt. It appears to be indestructible.

I didn't see any Queens, you could buy some nice queens for under $100

just a few.

Benchmade Nimravus Cub...Get a satin one if you can.

The Nimravus gets my vote also although it may push the limits of what you hope to spend. The Nimravus Cub got high praise in a review you can read by clicking the link below also. I like most everything about this knife, from the grip, to the coating on the blade to the shape of the blade. The sheath is quite nice also. I wish it was offered in a different steel but ATS34 pleases most people though. It speaks volumes for BenchMade having three of their knives in the top four here in this review if you ask me. Not too shabby.

Since this review was made primarily on folders and the Nimravus came in second as the only fixed blade it kind of makes it hard to judge it against other fixed blades. You have to wonder why it was put in with the folder review but nevertheless that is what was done. It may be that it was because it kind of feels like a folder in the hand. I don't know. It is a PDF file so you will need Adobe to read it.

IMO, if you're looking for a fixed blade, the Camillus CQB are alot of bang for your buck.

From your list I'd go Spyderfly, but if you're considering a bali then I'd make it a BM42 (if you don't already have one). there's also the Rainbow Spyderfly.

Dan, check out Bark River's offerings: absolutely gorgeous traditional fixed blades that are right around your budget.

Hey Dan, how about one of my customs? :p :D Just kidding, I'd go for the Benchmade NC. I like the small fixed blades Benchmade has. Nice size fixed blade for an EDC.

Do you have a Spyderco ParaMilitary? If not add it to the list to at least consider. I got one as a birthday present to myself last year, and for the last few weeks I've chosen it over my Sebenza. The blade holds an edge like you would not believe.

The Spyderfly is a nice butterfly, and I recommend it highly. Just be careful if you get one-it swings a little slower than most butterflies and takes some time to get used to. That, and the extremely sharp blade, removed the skin from a couple of my finger tips!

I'm going to have to agree with the guys that say stay away from case. You will get a better knife with better steel at a lower price. I bought $60 canoe at a knife knife show with ATS-34 steel at a knife show not too long ago (a Schatt and Morgan, a real deal) The last time I checked, Case wanted $200 for a slipjoint with ATS-34.
