Which knife for Christmas?

For my own personal Christmas present I am getting myself a new knife, but I am torn between 3!

What knife would be best for EDC between the ZT 0560, Emerson CQC-15 or Emerson Jungle Commander?

I appreciate any feedback.

I'll second Grayzer's opinion. I have a 0560 and love it. Well worth the money, very smooth & solid.

I'm sure Emerson's are nice but they use 154CM in their blades I believe. Now, 154 is a fine stainless but I don't think it's as good as the ELMAX that you'll get with the ZT (I think they now offer a few super steels for the 0560).

I had the same decision to make a few months ago. Many reviews said the Emerson aren't finished as well, even though they're built like a tank.

I would go with the ZT because I really love mine, but the Emersons are appealing to, but do not overrule my ZT. Second choice would be the Jungle Commander.

Every year there is a new super steel. Next year is a new super steel. Go with a company that does not depend on their next sale being a new super steel. I guarantee you any knife will dull with a 10-15 cuts. What matters is the blade does not break!

Get the Emerson. And pick the CQC-15!

Dude, just skip the middle man and get yourself a John Jensen Leviathan. Do it. But in all seriousness I would go with the Emerson CQC-15 because of its awesomely cool blade. I've heard bad things about ZT's Elmax as well as the 0560 lock up. Every 0560 i've handled has had vertical play whereas if your Emerson gets any bit of play, they'll probably replace the whole liner. I would buy the Emerson just based on the warranty you get with it. I've sent my CQC-13 in just to get a new stop pin put in and they replaced the liner as well as the stop pin. I would do the CQC-15 if it was me choosing.

Like others have said emersons warranty is second to none and although i dont know about the cqc-15 the 5 from what I hear is a damn near perfect knife

I have had a 561 and I gave it away, nothing wrong with it I find my change in style of knives, and what is the best for me to carry and use.

That being said I would go with a emerson and not look back, this may be a good Christmas present for me also:p

Dude, he wants a heavy duty knife, not a work of tacticool art!

Ernie Emerson has used 154cm in his blades for a very long time. It's not the best at holding an edge, but it can be sharpened in the field, and that's a large plus.

I won't buy another zt again, vertical blade play and failure every time a coconut. I would go Emerson!

Huh...weird, I've owned multiple ZT 0550's - some of which saw heavy usage - and none ever had blade play. I don't understand your coconut comment though...

Never handled a 0560 with zero movement on the lock bar... experience 4-5 I could close with my hands alone. ... my opinion, disregard if you don't like.

Purchased a 0777 a month ago, to test zt again, and I could close the blade with enough pressure with my hands. (Which isn't much). Finished.....

Never had trouble with my 0350....
I have used it even to open coconuts during the holiday and it didn't failed me or show any locking/move or any other issues

0560 all day long! It is my grail and goes everywhere I go. The ergos are perfect to me and mine has been a superb example of quality.
