Well I managed to get off work, and am going for my three days and two nights the end of this week.

Up until this year all I've had have been folders, but I've acquired a few fixed blades recently. So, now I'm trying to decide which knife to take.

My current EDC for work- a 5.11 ten eight 154CM with G10 handles

I have been leaning towards the S5, mainly because I want to try it out. However, I always have the folder with me and would kinda like to see how it would do. Considering the Farmer also, but the handle is thin so I don't think it will be too comfortable.

I'll add that I haven't been camping in at least 7 yrs and before always used a lighter/matches to start a fire. I grew up on a farm, enjoy hunting and the outdoors, but am new to bushcrafting. So, this will be a learning experience for me but I'm looking forward to it. A challenge and test all in one.

Any thoughts on which knife?

I'd go with that scrapyard, biggest blade wil do bigger tasks but with a good edge it can do the small things to

just my $0.02

Take them all, wear one each day, then see which one you reach for when a task arrives. where else will you get the oppurtunity to try them out.
enjoy your adventure.

You'll be fine with any of them. You'll adapt to the knife you have with you. Take which ever appeals to you the most. Or choose at random. Personally, I'm with Jeff: go with the RC-4. :D

I don't know, I would like to see a folder tried out. I've been toying with the idea about going for this just to test myself and using my BM Doug Ritter. I EDC my RC3 but most people don't carry a sheath knife.

Go with the SY. Although, I would go with the RC 4, but sadly, that was edited in :p

I found that during my time in das woods I did quite a bit of batoning, with that said i would take the blade with the most beef to it. Do keep in mind that i was using an RC-3 so that particular blade is not the most beefy blade, but it did amazingly! I had no problems and it never limited me in any of the situations i encountered out there.
Imo the s5 looks cool, so test her out! See if shes got more going on than looks.
Be smart, safe and enjoy the time.
