Which knife maker is better overall?

ESEE by far. They have great customer service and a 100% awesome warranty that cant be beat. If you break it they replace it. ESEE is a no gimmick, no BS kind of company. No mall ninja stuff that I see TOPS shoot out. YMMV

Better for what?

TOPS has the funniest names in the business. Devils Elbow? Grim Ripper? Priceless.

Aren't those two brands made by the same company? I realize they're completely different in aspects like warranty, looks etc...

I am not familiar with Tops but ESSEE has an amazing reputation and even better product. I am a Bark River guy but I choose ESSEE over Tops.

I couldn't find who makes TOPS knives, but Rowen makes the ESEE knives.

That said, I find most of the TOPS knives too gimicky, I'm sure some models are just what certain people need, and I hear they're good quality, but not my cup o' tea.

ESEE just sticks to making what works, with good steel and great heat treat, with a proven design.

Unless its since changed, rowen makes blades for both TOPS and ESEE.

I've never heard of a case where someone was screwed over by the warranty from TOPS, mike is a stand up guy.

So buy what design you want.
