I'm looking to pick up a few subscriptions and I'm wondering if any of you read knife periodicals/magazines like Blade, Knife World, etc.

If so, which do you read and what do you like most about it?

I get both Blade and Knife World. As a collector of vintage knives Knife World is my long time favorite.

Great to hear! Knife World is a really interesting publication. I've been trying to collect back issues, but they are hard to come by unless you pick them up in a lot.

The only knife magazine I thought a lot of was Knife World. I knew Houston Price, and did some writing for them back in the 1980's. Good magazine for traditionals and the history behind them.

I'm going to have to give Knife World a try.

Having been out of the hobby for a while, I just picked up the latest Blade and Knives Illustrated. Not that impressed with the content/price ratio, and also, not a lot of content of interest to fans of traditional pocketknives.

They have been getting a lot of toilet time tho. :D

Knife World is awesome. Thanks again Carl for that Knife World collection, I go back to that for information and just some good readin'!

Knife World and Backwoodsman are my two favorite knife magazines (hey, Backwoodsman has some great articles on old knives from time to time, and my friend Dan Schectman writes for Backwoodsman).

I like the magazine, but Blade is more flash than info, although they do have some informative articles on old knives. Knives Illustrated, I just couldn't get into the layout of the magazine, same flash and no substance, but there are a few gem articles now and again.

Self Reliance Illustrated had some good knife articles, but I heard they've gone under.

Awesome. Thanks jackknife! What did you write about?

Good suggestions! I'll have to look into Backwoodsman!

I like Knife World a lot and Blade is good but to much art knives and Knives Illustrated is not bad but I miss tactical knives Steve Dick's writtings. Carl Levitan use to write for Knife World and really like his articles.

I guess Carl used to write there before he realized that this subforum was a better place for his writings ;)

I've subscribed to Knife World for years. I had to buy a cabinet to store them in. It's a fantastic reference library for me. the sooner you start buying them the better off you'll be.
Plus it makes a nice back ground for pictures.

Definitely Knife World. The only knife magazine I read. Had subscribed to Knives Magazine for a while, but IMHO their coverage of vintage knives is poor; mainly directed towards modern factory and customs (which don't interest me).

Wait, you mean they still print words and pictures on PAPER? And mail it to you?!? Didn't you see the original Ghostbusters movie? In the words of Egon Spengler, "Print is dead."

How barbaric. Dead trees, pollution and global warming from those mail trucks, people having actual jobs delivering it - madness!

Madness indeed. I'd subscribe to a digital edition to any of these.

I wouldn't call it barbaric, however...more like *traditional* ;) :loyal:

Just what I need, a magazine to make me want to buy more knives..... like this place isn't bad enough.

Where do I sign up? :D
