At the moment I am torn between 6 different knives eventually I will buy them all. At the moment however I'm only buying one. Out of the Microtech Socom elite, microtech ultra tech, benchmade volli, the new h&k mp5 auto from benchmade, spyderco military, and the emerson cqc 8 (full size). Which one should I buy now?

I don't know what you will use it for (id assume tactical) but I would buy the socom elite.....

I'd suggest that you buy a Spyderco Military and a Sharpmaker if you don't already have one.

Haha thanks man for the warm welcome. And yeah I have a sharp maker so I might just go with military I've handled a few.

Yeah it would be mainly tactical, and what I would pay for the Socom I could buy two of the others.

Welcome.

If you can define what you mean by "tactical," we can help you better, That word means nothing. Purely a marketing term.

What do expect to do with the knife?

Sorry I tend too use the term. Tactical for things I wear on one of my vests or stuff I tend to train with. Basically this knife will be a defensive tool.

1) Are you trained in any particular knife based self-defense?
2) What kind of defense are you talking about? You "combat"? LEO? Civilian?

I was taught MCMAP buy three marines and it is what I am generally practicing. And I constantly train with several friends who were in law enforcement and the three marines who taught me. So civilian with combat interests, I like training with what the pros use.
