Which knife should I get?

Hey, I'm looking for a folding knife around $100-150, for light use, any suggestions? I've been looking at Para2's, though they aren't meant for extremely light use, but I've got a Cricket already, so I'd like something non-Spyderco, I've also been looking at Griptillian's a bit, they seem pretty nice. Also, I'd prefer it be from a well known company.

A. G. Russell Spire. Designed by Matt Conable of William Henry Knives, MSRP of $145.00 in Chinese Quince.

Take a look at the BM minigrip or 940 if you're willing to spend a little more. Kershaw has quite a few models in that price range

Why not the Bladeforums' Skyline? If you're looking for a light duty folder the Skyline is a good choice, light and thin. The Griptilian you mentioned is a nice choice too, but it's a big and wide knife for light duty it fills the pocket....

Thanks for all the suggestions! Currently I'm still kind of leaning towards the Para2.

The 940 looks pretty nice, so does the Minigrip. I'm not a huge fan of Kershaw, but I'll consider one.

That looks okay..

Well, the Skyline looks decent. I probably won't be carrying the knife much, so the Griptilian would probably still be fine.

The Para2 is by no means just a hard use knife. It's actually one of the best slicers I've owned and does light duty as well as heavy. It's a great knife and I'm sure you would enjoy it.

On the other hand if you're looking for light use... or even moderately heavy use, and would like a Ti Frame Lock(which I love) you can look at:
Spyderco Chokwe
Spyderco Sage 2
Spyderco Leafstorm

All excellent knives and would fit the nice light use category as well as having Titanium Goodness. =]

There are too many threads that are exactly like this.
You seem like you're new to the forums, so my advice would be to do some reading first before posting. Use the search function and look at what others have been using. Watch/read knife reviews and find out what kind of knives you like. Nobody is going to be able to tell you what you should buy because they have no idea what your needs are.
What I see on this forum when people ask these "what knife should I get" questions is a lot of people just parroting the names of their favorite knives with little consideration of what would be suitable for the OP.

You seem like a Spyderco person! :P
I've heard good things about the Sage and Leafstorm, but haven't looked much at Chokwe's, probably because I dislike the general shape of the knife.

Well, I'm new to these forums, if you couldn't tell by my post count, but I'm used to other forums, and almost all suggest to "Search before you post", but you know what tends to happen when you just search? You can't find what you want to find. I've watched a lot of Knife Reviews, and know the category of knives I like rather well. And no, nobody can TELL me what to buy, but they can make suggestions, I at least put a couple knives that I've been looking at, and said light use, instead of just saying "Hey I need a knife for $100-$150 what should I get?", and if you didn't want to make a helpful suggestion, why did you even come to this topic?

The shape of the Chokwe throws a lot of people off.
It has to be the best fit and finished ergonomic amazing blade I own.
It's unique but it just works and that's something I love about Spyderco.

As for asking for suggestions, it really does help to know preferred blade length, blade shape, brands you like, handle materials, locking mechanisms, etc. That way people can give suggestions on what you specifically need.

But as far as light use and $100-$150 there are lots of options! So keep an eye out for which one really calls to you. A knife really has to appeal to me for me to jump and buy it. So take a look at what you like and go for it.

The Para 2 is great, I traded for one a few days ago. The more I carry it, the more I like it. It is becoming a favorite. It is super slim and light weight for the size.

It sounds like you're pretty well decided on a Para2.

Why not get a used one and use the extra money to buy/do a little knife pimping?

If it's going to be a light use knife, you have the opportunity to make something really special and unique.

There are a couple threads going right now that show customized production knives, including a BM AFCK with a sort of snake-skin texture which I think is really cool. Maybe not my thing in white, but the basic idea is interesting.

The copper CF that some people are using also looks like it makes a really striking handle scale, and there are thousands of other ideas out there.

Just a thought.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley, best spyderco ever made IMO.Excellent quality, fit and finish, excelllent steel, not to heavy in the pocket, looks and feels awesome as a user blade.

Well, I'll have an extra $150.00 if I get a Para2, I have $250.00 to spend, just don't want to spend it all on one knife, though a pimped Para2 would be awesome. I'll look for threads on how to pimp knives, if it seems easy/cheap enough, I'll consider it. :P

Okay, I'll check that out, thanks!
