Which Knife to Get?

I am looking into buying a nice knife but I can't seem to decide on which one to get. There are a few limitations I have to work within-

1. It has to be from Buck.
2. It can not be a special item.
3. It has to be a folder.

I was looking at one of the Strider collaboration, the 880T to be exact. I am wondering if anyone has one or has used one, knows any pros/cons -or- if there is a different knife with similar characteristics.

The only thing I dont like about the knife is the handle, I dont know what it is, it just seems alittle odd or sumtin'. Other than that what do you guys think?

Befor I forget here is the url

Buck certainly makes some good knives, I have several... but I'm just curious as to why are you limiting yourself to Bucks?

Cabelas has a Buck 110 folder with S30V steel. It is called the Alaskan series.Price is not too bad either.

Here's a few Bucks that I have:

I work for an outfitter and any vendor that we support I can do what is called a prodeal and get any item from that vendor (if we carry it or not) for a percentage off of wholesale. Buck being the highest end knife company that we carry and me being short of cash and in need of a good knife leaves few options. So thats why I have limited it to Buck. The most I can spend is about $120 so the Buck/Mayo TNT is the highest I would go(in reality it costs about $300 but my discount makes it about $120).

If you are looking for a general utility knife, the Mayo TNT will be hard to beat. If you want to pry doors open, the Strider is the better choice.

The Cabela's Alaskan Guide Buck 110 can't be beat.

But if it must be a standard stocked Buck knife...the Buck 112 with finger-grooves!

Good luck,
Allen.

I have two Buck 880s. One is a Plain Edge Spear point I'm keeping and one a plain edge Tanto currently listed for sale. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386167 They are great knives. I just prefer the spear over the tanto shape.

They are big though. Almost to their fault for me, which is probably why I prefer carrying the Mini 881 that they recently discontinued. The Buck Store still had a few left in stock though and you can get them for $97 shipped if they still have any left. These are overbuilt tanks the size of a gents folder and yet capable of much more. The blade is 4.56 mm thick on this little knife and the lock and liner are .070 which is pretty thick, making for a strong reliable lock.

The 880 blade is slightly thicker and the lock on it is .073 which makes it slighly beefier. You can see a good size comparison here. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3375177&postcount=32

Many guys that own these Strider/Buck knives go to the local hardware store and get some small plumbing washers to put on the thumb studs. These are great. I got mine at Lowes in a size #60 o-ring made by Danco in a 1/4" OD x 1/8" ID x 1/16" size. They do make the blade easier to open and the stud more comfortable on the thumb.

Get one of these 880s or 881s over the 882. I had one of those and didn't like the super thin lock and liner that much to be honest with you. If you do get one of those at least get the upgrade to the G10. I hear its a much nicer knife.

Thx for the help, I think I am going to wait for my next paycheck and get two knifes instead of one... :D

I've been dying to handle one, but they're extremely elusive here for some reason--but if I could have any Buck right now, it'd definitely be the Buck Mayo TNT.

I'll throw a vote for the TNT.

Ti frame lock (durable, light, easy to clean), good steel, practical blade shape.
