Which knife to get

oh yes, for the price, you cant beat the RC-3

anyways, you cant afford the game warden when you still owe me money;);)

I've never used the TOPS or the Busse, but I can't imagine they would be better than my RC-3.

For the money, the RC-3 is a great knife, however if you have extra to spend, you won't regret getting the Warden. There is something about that little knife that just begs to be beaten. And don't worry, it CAN take it. And whatever it can't take will be covered by the Busse warranty anyway.

I *love* my RC-4. Perfect outdoors knife for me.

RC-3 is also a great knife, and a great value for the money.

and Rat Cutlery also has a 100% warranty.

I say a Busse is far stronger than an RC 3 you could could probably use the fatty GW as a prybar as well I don't think it wise to try that with the much thinner blade of RC3.

I happen to own both. The RC 3s thinner profile would give it an advantage in slicing, they are both great knives. The extra money paid for a Busse is not for novelty or the Busse label it is because they are among of the toughest if not the toughest edge retaining blades made. Tempering of a Busse blade is said to be a very long laborous process that other knife manufacturers just don't do.

As an outdoor/camping knife or military knife according to tests in actual use Busse rocks

That is my opinion

Don't get me wrong the RC 3 is a quality knife and to be honest I Belive you can't go wrong with either, however if you have a good chance of having to put your knife through heavy unorthodox abuse then I would start looking at a Busse

+1

looks like i might have to buy both the rc-3 and busse GW each have qualities of there own that make it a very good knife i think i might get the busse first though

I have a feeling that once you get the GW, you won't be buying an RC-3 soon after. What'll probably happen is that you'll decide you now need a medium 4.5-7" knife, and you'll spend all your time researching which Busse to get next. :D

I know there are people on here who make Busse fans seem like members of some crazy cult, but my experience is simply that there are few knives which feel as tough and come with as good a warranty as Busse combat.

Btw...to throw another wrench in your works, you could always check into www.fehrmanknives.com. Their ThruHiker might be right up your alley, and for about 400$ you can get your medium knife (first strike) and small knife, sheaths for both, and a firesteel all in a nice little carry combo.

Oh, and for less money, but still in the Busse family you can try the HairyCarry LE which is being offered now. 138$ for a great little 3" blade with good ergos. Check it out on the SwampRat forum here on BF.
