Bark River all day, every day... Twice on Sunday.

Bark River vs. CRKT??

That is no competition at all.

Bark River uses better materials, has better QC (considering they're all made by a person and checked over meticulously before leaving the shop), their Customer Service is phenomenal, and their warranty is top shelf.

Once again, Bark River all day, every day.

The BRKT will probably hold its value better than the CRKT in the event you ever need/want to part with it.

Just my 2¢

The CRK&T Hisshou is the finest knife I've ever seen from them. It is made in China by someone who knows what he is doing. Comes razor sharp, fit/finish is awesome, and the sheath is great!

With that said, I would go with the Bark River Tanto because Mike Stewart will stand behind his knives all day long!!:)

Plus, I like the micarta handles of the Bark River MUCH better than the cord wrapped.

Bark River.

I haven't fondled a CRKT Hisshou yet, but based on other CRKT products I own, Bark River makes a much higher quality product overall. Their prices sure have gone high though... :(

Amen to this!

I think the short answer is the Bark River. It's just a better knife & I believe it'll hold its value better & probably appreciate more in value. The CRKT might hold its value, too, but lets face it, it's a made in China CRKT while the Bark River is a made in US high end production knife.

However, if $ is an issue, then the CRKT would be the better choice as I'm pretty sure it can be bought for quite a bit less $ than the Bark River.

I'm guessing the OP's interest in either knife is for collection reasons. If you could only get one, my vote's for the Bark River.

Bark river, easily... Mr. stewart knows his knives and heat treats, and all the knives there are semi-custom... then you have crkt which usually means inexpensive knives with so so quality.

Depends on your intended use. For a combat knife I'd pick the BRKT, but a fighting knife I'd go with the the CRKT.

Another vote for Bark River. I have dealt with Mike directly, and I have purchased 8 of his knives -- all of which met or exceeded my expectations.
