Which knife would you get from CRKT (under $50)

Not sure what you're looking for exactly but I would also highly recommend the M16 series. I have the M16 EDC plain edge tanto and I have never been let down by it. It's been in my pocket for the last two years. I actually bought it for the full retail price but I don't regret it, it's a really solid performer. You can find them for under $50 easily on the internet. Good luck!

M16s are alright, I got a kff and it was not alright. The washers are made of plastic, no joke! The lock is also not that secure and can be disengaged with a wrist snap. The first strike is pretty good once you reprofile the edge. It also takes a good edge. It would be ideal for a discreet carry as it is very flat.

I am not sure what this knife would be for. If it's fixed blade, most likely for outdoor. Folder would be just another EDC. I am asking because someone is ordering from the CRKT catalogue and tempting to do so.

I really like the first strike but they are not in production anymore right? :(. I think I want a fixed blade because I don't have one yet.

One very important questian about buying crkt is: How hard are you going to use this knife? If I were going into the bush I would take something more substancial go for Becker CU/7. Much better than any crkt.

If you can find one, the Grey Ghost Mirage is one of the smoothest liner locks I've handled. Nothing fancy about it though.

I also like the KISS and Stiff KISS knives.

All of these are definitely in your budget. Good luck deciding.

I just got a CRKT Crawford KFF for $33. Big knife, looks the part, locks up sharply with no play. I see the extra LAWKS safety as a plus if heavy work were to arise.

i would get the KFF, if ya get a good one w/good lock up, they are pretty good for the $$, the M16 stuff is good too, in a fixed blade the companion is my fav, get a custom kydex sheath for it and ya have an excellent FB for less than $50.

This might strike some as odd, but I've developed an affair with the newest variant of Rollock 2 released.
The Rollock 2 added a little bit of metal on the back of the blade that makes one handed open AND close a piece of cake.
The new stainless handled one (as opposed to the old plastic scale and spacer one) works MUCH better.
Yah, the steel might not be the 'ultimate' for some folks, but it seems at least as good as my SAK.
I like looking at some knives as clever little machines to help you do what you want to do, and I've been kind of fascinated with this one that was only $30 where I got it.
Your mileage may vary though....

I'd get a Spyderco instead. I don't trust CRKT linerlocks after one gave me 3 stitches after failing on me. I don't trust a linerlock that requires a second lock to be considered safe.

For $50 or less you can get an Endura or Delica with far superior steel and a better lock. If you're bent on a CRKT, get one of the Walker BladeLock models.

I'll vote for the M16 series too. Very nice folders for the price. Second choices would be the Powlkowski/Kasper Companion fixed blade or Crawford/Kasper Fighting Folder.
