Hi, i'm kinda new here, been reading post for several days now... My question is this, I'm looking for something to carry mostly for SD. I have several folders and fixed blades. My EDC currently is a Ken Onion Blackout 1550ST, and a little $12 Gerber for my utility needs. I recently purchased a Seal Pup, and am looking at the Peace Keeper II. I have always loved knives but just haven't been a total knife freak till now. I'm looking at different blades steel's and everythink else I can read on the net. I have always sharpened my own knives free handed and kept every single knife I own as sharp as i know how(I HATE dull knives). On to my Q, I have to dress up(nice pants and shirt, ugh) at work. Due to things that might happen at work i'm looking to get rid of the pocket clip so as to not look to be a threat and get a boot knife of some sort. I tested the seal pup in my boots, but i just flopped around and I did't realy like the feel. Is there any other knife I can carry w/out looking to be a threat, or is the Blackout gonna be my best bet? Ohh I am also looking at a Buck Crosslock like I lost a year ago or so, I loved that knife. I know a "Boot Knife" isn't the thing for SD per say, but i'm just looking for something inconspicuois (however ya spell it). Any ideas....

Get a small 2.5 inch folder with a lanyard hole and put a short lanyard on it. I use my Lightfoot Urban Shark for instance (comes with lanyard). I usually carry it around loosely in my pocket, but it's always easy to find because of the lanyard. It's small enough not to be a pocket anchor or leave an impression if it lay sideways, also.

if its a fixed blade ya want look at bud nealys stuff, for a concealed FB ya cant beat him imho, boker makes some collaboration stuff with him FWIW if ya want something cheaper.

gerber guardian, if legal for ya would be ok, also a MOD razorback.

tons of folders would work, just dont use the clip.

One way to carry a folder with a clip and still be inconspicuous is to carry it IWB -- inside the waistband. Clip the knife to the waistband of your pants with the knife inside and the clip under your belt.

One of those Boker-Nealy models simply slipped inside a back pocket, especially if the pocket has a flap, is also good.

Thanks for all the replies folks!!! I like the IWB suggestion, and the Gerber Guardian knife. I have found another knife I like for the versatility of it, the Gerber LMF II Infantry. Any thoughs on this knife, search engine is down again. I hope im not asking redundent questions, and I appreciate all the suggestions. How is the "12C 27" steel? The knife is a bit high on my price list, but looks like it is pretty good buy. I was thinkin I could use the leg strap to strap it upsidedown to my leg above the boot...

If you're worried about office drama, I would advise to simply stay away from the boot-knife/fixed-blade ordeal. I would recomend you get a SOG Flash. The clip makes the knife ride extremely low in the pocket. In fact, only the clip can be noticed. it is flat, so it doesn't cause for suspicious buldges that you may have to explain. Also, you can get it with a camo-colored blade for all of your tactical needs!

Honestly, people really don't pay as much attention as you think. I'm fairly certain that you could clip your Blackout to your pocket, and nobody would notice untill you pulled it out.
