Which knife

In the very near future im going to buy one of the two

The choices are:

cold steel recon tanto

or

Kabar tanto

The knife will be cared on my molle for training up until deployment then probably given to one of my buddies during deployment (afghanistan) to replace the god awful tanto alot of these guys bought :barf:
Ive got my Rats for deployment.:thumbup:
so which on and why? they are really similar and i dont have much experience with either companies. I tried to avoid cold steel for awhile but i bought one their spike knives and really enjoyed it.
The knife will also be used for bushcraft during some camping in the fall as i dont want a knife i havent played with a bit going into combat with a friend :thumbup:

Not too many people are into the tanto thing anymore,I guess.I have an old C.S.Master Tanto that I bought 22 years ago.It is a pretty good blade,have'nt taken it with me anywhere in years.I don't have any experience with either of the other two,so I can't say.If you'd have asked 12 to 20 years ago I'd have said C.S.

because he wants a tanto and i have never had a tanto fixed blade before so we both win. they have the tanto kabar at the px so its more readily available but i dont know if its as tough as the cold steel...

Go KaBar. They seem to be a more reputable company and have a far better historical record.

I'd personally go with a RAT but if you're friend is obsessed with a tanto point, I'd stick with KaBar.

get the ka-bar in d2.most knife use will be utility.if it comes down to sticking someone the ka-bar with back 2 inches sharpened.ka-bar for slicing,box opening,general cutting, will be superior.
