Mine has not so much been the knife model, but aspects of a particular model. I have a 551 griptilian, which I knew I would like, but it has black coating and is partially serrated. Prior to getting this, I was trying to stay away from coating and partial serrations, but I've come to enjoy their contributions to my daily knifing. Which knives have grown on you?

The BM 710HS. I thought it is too big for me and over-hyped. But it is such tough and varsetile knife that i cant help liking it.

CRKT M-1 folder. At first I did not like it,and now it would be one of the last to go.It's one rough, tough knife!

The one that has unexpectedly grown on me the most has to be the Byrd G10 Cara Cara. I got it because it was so inexpensive and I wanted to see how the quality was, and have been blown away by it. It's one of my favorite knives now, and cost less than anything else in my collection.

my Native 1.I thought that spyderco knives were ugly at first but then I bought my native and fell in love with it.Now I have 3 spyderco's and am looking for a few more.

Delica 4

i didn't like the look of Spydercos but that think just feels so at home in your hand and so solid

After owning Busse and many other brands, I've really come to appreciate and rely on mainly 2 brand/model knives.

1. BM full and mini Griptilians due to their lightweight, ergonomics, solid lockup, and blade design/steel and price.

2. Ranger RD series due to their exceptional strength, edge holding ability and value. For a fraction of the cost, this thing does everything my Busse FSH does and I am able to afford several.

This is a long list for me.
The Blue Bump I thought was hideous for a month of looking at it in my local knife store. Then there was the period where I found it okay looking and a curiosity. That was about a week. And the day after that week, I absolutely had to have it and bought it immediately.

The Spyderco Dodo...I thought it was hideous also. I had heard great things, but had never been able to handle one. They got cancelled and were disappearing, so I ordered one just in case. Learned it had perfect ergonomics.

The most recent example of a knife I used to hate growing on me is the Benchmade Gravitator. I've always hated how that knife looks, but last night, I saw a photo and now I can't stop looking at it...

CS Recon 1 with the G10 scales. The CS is one that without a doubt is going to be carried alot. The G10 is perfect for me. Nice and grippy and the handle is big to fit my hand. The knife has weight to it too so I know I have it in my hand. That is a big deal to me due to my carpal tunnel crap. The axis lock or whatever it is called is nice too. Very smooth opener. keepem sharp

Two come to mind ...

Kershaw's Storm II - I did like it immediately , but I like it much more now.

Colt Roc-Lock - I wasn't crazy about this one, but it has grown on me the more I use / carry it.

1)Spyderco Paramilitary. Wasn't sure I'd like the large handle vs smaller blade, but it really feels good in my hand. Been carrying it daily for over a year and am very happy with its performance. Wasn't expecting to like it quite so much.

2) RAT 7. Took this knife in a trade. I'm not all that much for large knives. Before this my only other large knife is a Reeve Green Beret, which I love. However, after thinning out the edge on my RAT 7 that thing cuts like h*ll. It's large, but not too heavy. Feels good in my hand. Best of all, it's inexpensive.....

The Swamp Rat Rat Trap, Its a slimmer blade than i usually carry, i am quite pleased wth it and have carried it every day since it arrived at my house, I thought it wouldnt be as effective as some bulkier blades i use but even though smaller it still cuts like a maniac! lol.

There's been a few for me:) Spydie Delica 3 - I bought one, actually, more for the lack of anything else to buy at the time - wasn't fussy about riveted pivots, BUT it was a good chance to try VG-10. So now, 20 or so Spydies later..... Byrd SS Meadowlark and Crow caught me right off guard. The others - CRKT M16-O3K turned out to be a surprise, Buck 110 became the tip of the iceberg to a rash of buying Bucks. Ka-Bar/Dozier folding hunter got me looking at a Thorn, which I recently acquired (Black Thorn in D2), and it's growing on me, despite the fact it's a right handed one:D I do have a few that were a bit of a disappointment, but the good ones more than outweigh the bad ones. Keeps the collecting side fascinating:)

Becker Necker. Amazing how it handles and cuts like a much larger knife. Very good edge retention, well-designed Kydex sheath. A real winner, and a bargain .... let's hope Camillus cranks out some more before going under, which it's begining to look like they will.

My Ares, I thought it looked cool so I got it. But I did not find it comfortable to use. now I like it a lot.

The swamp rat, rat trap. I did not except it to, but it has replaced my other edc's (and others Ive carried). Its been a constant for over two years now. Its thin, strong, very useful and is fairly light, and very well made, a real bargain, and "fit and finish" is much better than all my benchmades, and spydercos, lone wolf harseys, etc. etc. etc.

The BRKT Mikro-Canadian. Amazing usefulness in such a tiny knife! I originally thought they were pretty silly, but found a good deal on a used one. I carried it for a bit, just for testing purposes.

Since I teach at a university, I have to be very careful about what I EDC, but the Mikro actually fit inside the "legal" fixed blade limits at the school. It was very sheeple friendly - no one had a negative reaction to it ("It's so cute!").

But the really surprising thing was how pickin' useful it was! It's sharp as heck, and while the blade length is a limitation, it's a lot less limiting then I suspected.

I now EDC it on a regular basis, and have picked up a couple in "pretty" handles - makes it even better on the sheeple side!

Fun knife!

Spyderco Native. I've had a couple of other Spydies and traded them for one reason or another. But the Native feels like it was made for my hand. It's not G-10, it doesn't have a new fangled high tech lock but it works and it's easy to carry.

Camillus MkII USMC. Picked this one up in a trade. I wasn't that keen on the sawback of the PS. And it had this ugly black coating. I took the coating off and found some good looking steel and leather under there. There's not much I can do about the sawback but I'm slowly getting rid of the serrations. It's not full tang, it's just basic 1095 but I reach for it when the Native is too small and a 28oz. khukuri is too big.

The manual MT Vector. I live in a state where I can legally carry autos, but prefer the manual Vector as I can flick it out faster than the manual shoots it out and I prefer the locking bar set-up on the manual. That and the handle fits my hand perfectly and I love the utility of the blade shape.
