The 2000 series??? Is the blade different or just the handle? Are the wood models very heavy? Do they have a clip? Good grip??? Is it more of a "show piece" or a user? Light or dark colored wood? Or mother of pearl model? Too many choices!

Or any other suggestions. (I feel like a kid in acandy store!)

Warm Regards

The woods don't add much weight, they have the clip and same blade, they feel goooood! as far as usability-for 80% of use they would be fine- more exetreme envirements they would work but why subject it to the harsher things in life?- a standard would do that part fine....

I think that you might as well save yourself a lot of trouble and just get one of each. Also consider the NICA tanto. Large Sebenza with tanto blade. I know where you can get a right hand model. I'm left handed and Chris does cater to us southpaws. I have the large tanto, a small plain, a small CGG rising moon, and two on order a small dark wood inlay and a small NICA tanto. I prefer the small. Easier on the pocket and will do almost anything that the large will do. I think you need one for hard work and one for show. The wood inlay is a good choice because it is pretty and it can be used hard. Chris doesn't recommend that the woods be used in extreme temperatures or in water for long periods. One guy wrote that he used his wood to clean trout without problem. The CGG or decorated models are nice but aren't in my opinion good daily carries because everytime you touch them you leave fingerprints and you end up spending most of your time polishing them. Two nice things about Reeve knives are that you can take them apart, clean lube and reassemble. I've done it several times with no problems (just don't do it when you are drunk). Nice to see the way the knife is built. Only then can you truly appreciate the quality that goes into these knives. And secondly, if your Sebs get a little beat up, for $20.00 or so they will recondition it to make it look like new. Even small scratches in the wood can be polished out. If you buy them all you will not have to agonize over which one to buy.

The blade on the 2000 Classic is a touch longer with a slightly higher point. The edges of the handle scales are nicely beveled, but I prefer the feel of the new style Sebenza myself. The Wood Inlay models are gorgeous and beautifully made, but I wouldn’t carry mine at work. The decorated models hold up very well to use, actually, but still more for weekend carry. The plain Jane, “gray turd” is still the best knife going.

Akula,

My index finger fits right in the cut-out on the Classic. For my hand it just feels more secure. You'll probably need to hold them both to see which one's for you.

I wish there were an Umfaam in a Classic configuration!

Hello again akula57

First buy the small Left Handed plain Sebenza.
Then buy the large.
Now you have to buy the Umfaan for the Zulu Trio.

Now you are ready to order a dark wood inlay.

Mean while buy the Project I.

That's what I did.

The wood inlays are a bit lighter, they cut out a well that the wood fits into, hence the name, comes with a clip....though I've long since taken mine off, carry mine everyday now and like it alot, the Box Elderwood is light in colour and has nice character, depends on your preference as to which colour of wood...

This one is mine, and is a sweet knife to be sure!
here is a link to an up close and personal look at the wood scales....

My choice was the large wood inlay, but you can be sure I will not work it to hard.
I prefer the looks of the new Sebenza to the Classic, but that is a personal preference not a funtional one. I am sure both will do an excellent job for you.
