Evening, Happy Independence Day. Which leatherman Wave would be best for belt carry duty around house and property for general tasks not electrical. Gen. 1 or 2? Thinking plus would be too heavy for belt. Also if it came across a Orginal Gen. 1 what would be an average price for used good condition with used Orginal leather wave case,no box or documents, asking since came across one on marketplace.

I would go with the original Gen1. In fact, I still do after 30 years. They can usually be found for $50 to $75 depending on condition.

I use the old brown leather pouch from when Bianchi Gunleather was making them. They wear out eventually, but I get ten to fifteen years out of one. Not so with the later pouches with elastic sides. Those are rubbish, the elastic gives out in weeks.

When I posted that picture in response to someone asking about the Temperance 2 sheath, some else asked about that other sheath. I had to go back and look at the picture to see what they were talking about about. I had been carrying that Leatherman so long that I forgot it was there, even though I used it twenty times a day.

I would just get a new one. I still use my original Wave as a light duty guitar and electronics tool, and the small flatheads come in handy for that, but the bit exchanger is pretty cool IMO. If you don't need the saw, serrated blade, or the small eyeglasses driver, you could consider the Curl.

I don't use a sheath anymore, I like a pocket clip better. But I agree the leather sheaths are better than the various fabric ones I've tried.

Had thought of keeping a PST in my guitar case at one point.

this leather sheath from Benchcraft.

When I bought my Arc, which is now going on 2 years I guess, my intention was to dump the nylon sheath and buy another American Benchcraft because I had one on my old SOG.

However, the original Leatherman sheath is holding up quite well considering it’s made in China. I’m now going to see how long it will hold up. I wear it daily and am very hard on things.

I DO like American Benchcraft sheaths.

It's totally worth keeping a multitool in there. Between the old Wave and a truss rod wrench, I can take care of almost every guitar-related task that comes up. In fact the whole reason I replaced my OG Wave with a Charge was that it went missing at a show. But it eventually turned up. Sold the Charge, still have the Wave. File, drivers, scissors, wire cutter, and pliers see a lot of use.

Both are very good and hardly any different between them in regular use. The only difference is the replaceable wire cutters on the plus version and that is an improvement in my opinion. I don’t use the sheath as I carry with the pocket clip in pocket.
