Which production knives can be had in 1/4" or 5/16"? I know Busse does, and most of the Striders, but is there anyone else?

ICC does seem to make some tough knives indeed.

What is they warranty like? Do they cover ANY damage? Do they stand behind it 100%?

I'm thinking about ordering one of the neck knives, just to get a cheap idea of the quality.

5/16th of an inch THICK...Cold Steel TrailMaster, Recon Scout, and Gurkha Kukri.:).

You cant go wrong with one of their neck knives. Theyre also coming out with a "no frills" line of combat knives, which should be considerably cheaper than their standard line, yet still be just as tough. As far as the warranty goes, the way I understand it is, they stand behind their product 100 % no bs.Ive done some awful things to my ICC knife and its stood up fine. I dont think you could break one unless you tried to specifically.

TOPS also makes several .250 thick models... pretty well made stuff if you like the tactical look.

There are also some knives from Newt Livesay that are .250 thick, again with the black tactical look.

Yes!!! I stand behind them. If you damage the edge, I'll fix it. If any part of the knife fails, in any way, I'll fix it, or replace it. I just want to know what you were doing.

Now this is within reason! "I Was leveling my house, I had 3/4 inch of the tip in there, and I had a 10 foot pipe on the handle for leaverage, and me and my 2 brothers were pushing down on the end---"

Well, within reason. Now if you do hurt one let me know all about it, and send me the remains, and if I think it shouldn't have failed, I will fix/replace it. That goes for the shesths too.

AND if your name is Cliff Stamp--- What ever

You should let Cliff test one of your knives. Ive done some mean things to mine.I mean he would take it to failure. But I would like to see just how much it could take before it dies.

I know you're already aware of this but I thought I'd mention it for others who may read this, most of the Becker Knife & Tool line of knives by Camillus are 1/4" thick. I'm waiting on my first knife from BK&T and I have a feeling that I'm going to like it alot!!!

Bill Siegle also works in differentially tempered 5160, 5/16 and 1/4 thick. No, he's not a production company, but his stuff is comparable pricewise to, say, SOG's higher-end stuff.

Siegles stuff is awesome. He also works with 3/8" 5160. His prices cant be beat.

Mad Dog (www.tacticalforums.com, www.mdenterprises.com) makes awesome fighting and work knives from 1/4 inch 01. I own five and am ordering two more. price is comensurate with workmanship and I agree about the using it to hammer steel in the dead of winter...I can find a rock to do that!

MDK handles are incredibly comfortable and user friendly, the sheaths are very well conceived and made and act as a proper carry and deployment system, not just a case that straps to your belt.

Everyone who has dealt with Kevin McClung/ Mad Dog Knives has a strong opinion about the man. My own opinion is that if he were a total a$$hole I would stil buy and use his knives.

Randall Made knives (www.randallmadeknives.com, www.nordicknives.com) also use 1/4 inch stock , handmade at factory prices, the wait can be a bit much though. Excellent users and once cleaned up by the maker, can be resold easily for purchase price or better. One of the slickest packages you wil ever find is a number 8 bird and trout with a single finger groove Micarta handle and nickel-sliver single hilt. Nice work and defensvei piece i one easy to get by the cops type piece.

Ontario Knife Company has a couple of Bowie knives
that are .25" thick. They use 1095 steel. cost is around $50.

I've met 8-9 people that told me they broke their Randels. I don't know, I'm just repeating what I've been told. Most were broken in Vietnam, they weren't interested in the warranty. That is why I started making the knives I do in the first place. It will be there when you really need it.
