Which Manix?

I've been searching and have been wanting to buy a Manix but with there being so many different ones I'm unsure on which one to buy.

I would love to hear what you guys have to say about each one. I'm used to Spyderco's S30V and it's probably one of my favorite steels.

I want the S110V but not to big on the FRN. Would much rather have the G10 handle scales but I have so many S30V models I want to try something different. Also want to try the LW with BD1 at the price point but that's back to the FRN concern. Not a huge factor but I believe if it has FRN then should I just pay the extra for the S110V? So I'm up in the air on which one & know I wouldn't be disappointed with which ever one I get.

What manix do you guys have and what would you recommend & why?

Every now and then you see a FrankenManix floating around the Exchange. Believe I've seen a couple that have g10 bit swapped blades from an S110V LW

This is what I'm looking for but haven't been able to keep a close watch on the market.

I have a LW in BD1 steel. And I LIKE IT ALOT
The reguar Manix2 is a brick.

Translucent FRN grew on me because it does not feel like regular FRN.

The hype of S110 "Super steel"" Ill never get.
Elmax, ZDP189, Super Blue, M4 and whatever else. I have had those.

It cuts and slices and gets stropped like any other knife I own wither it needs it or not.

In other words. Get a LW in BD1 and be Happy.

I'd recommend a cruwear version while they can still be had for a reasonable price.

I'm not a big fan of the Manix but I carried a cruwear military for a solid year. Nice steel and worth giving it a shot, though I settled back with s30v for the better edge retention.

I had an s110v Manix for a hot minute. Sold it right away because I couldn't get over the cheap looking (personal opinion) handle. FRN is tough stuff though.

I would like it, but those are also hard to find. Never tried cruwear but willing to give it a try. Never heard anything bad about it.

I have an endura, clipit, and native lw in FRN and agree it is tough but wouldn't get the s110v unless it was a deal

Manic Cruwear is $155 and in stock on one of the retailers pages. I bought one a few weeks ago but hated how easily the gray scales showed filth and traded it for a S110V MULE.

Maybe try a XL? It's almost my favorite folder but considering the feel of it in pocket my PM2 is my main EDC. I have the CF/S90V version and if you don't mind paying a bit more it's totally worth it. Just be patient and you'll find whatever you're looking for at a decent price.

Cruwear all the way!
Skeletonized liners shave about 3/4oz.!
As mentioned, the grey scales show dirt easily, but I think it adds character.

They all have their good points-
The S110V LW version is very interesting- very light and has good blade steel, a good EDC if you are weight-conscious and don't mind FRN
The S30V/G10 version is a good EDC if you like G10
The Cruwear or M4 versions are good work knives

I have these 3: M4, Cruwear, and S110V

I like them all, but for different reasons...

I like the LW for its light weight. I carried it a lot at home for that reason, until it was bumped by the Superblue Stretch. Some people just cannot get over the 'plastic' look and feel, I guess you have to try it to decide for yourself. I currently carry it in my bag as a backup, because it weighs so little.

The other two sprints I also like because of their lighter weight compared to the regular production version (sprints have skeletonized liners).

M4 ground thin is one of my favourite non-stainless steels. I got a Cruwear to check the steel out. It is supposedly 'tougher' than M4, but with less wear resistance. This one is left thick behind the edge to serve as a folder for tougher work. I did not like the grey G10 scales, so swapped it for black.

All I know is that the standard black FFG S30V model is **a lot** of knife for the price... The LW's too... BD1 will be much easier to sharpen than S30V, S110V much more difficult than S30V.

another forum has a moonglow Manix 2 XL as their forum knife. It looks pretty cool

I have an M4 knife and it's not at all hard to sharpen and can still push cut magazine paper after cutting open a soda can. I wouldn't mind the Cruwear, 110, or M4 but the problem is availability.

I would be absolutely no help in picking just one. Click HERE for more pics.

Of course, the new black blade LW has already joined the family, but the family needs an updated pic!

I had the XL S90 but sold it. It was just huge. Carried it all of 2x and it just never grew on me.

I REALLY like the S110V due to its size and light weight. It does fantastic clipped in board shorts with a light T-shirt. I wasn't sure about the scales, but the steel and the weight more than made up for it. Only you can decide, but it grew on me fast.

Just one guys opinion.

Weight isn't a factor. I rarely come home take my uniform off and put board shorts on unless they're cargo shorts. It's mainly pants or cargo shorts for this guy.

Though for the times I do wear board shorts I have some salt series for that ;)
