which Native should I keep?

I ordered 2 FRN 440v natives a couple of weeks ago.I plan on giving one as a gift. One Native came with really deep aggressive serrations the oter has much more shallow serrations. Also the one with the shallow serrations was on backorder and came a week later than the first.I'm wondering if Spyderco has changed the serrations as a result of problems with the longer "teeth"?Or is this just normal variance?Which one should I keep?
Thanks,
troy

I recently(3 weeks)picked up an FRN native with the deeper ground serrations. The teeth don't seem to have points as traditional spyderco goes ,more of a distinctive wave in the pattern. But I'll tell you what I haven't had to sharpen it once since I got it and I like the way it looks.Being a 35/65 grind it really flows into the smooth edge and since it's 440V you won't have to worry about retaining your edge.My advice keep them both

and that's that. But if it's someone really worth it ,give them both. What a way to start collecting.

Someday my friends ,I'll own them all

Whos-when I said shallow ground I meant what you are describing-more of a wavy look to 'em.If I look at the ungound side of both blades one shows really pronounced points and the other is much less pronounced-a very big difference between the two.I have examined them closey for the last half hour and they are identical in terms of lockup, action smoothness.I have to decide by tomorrow a.m.

The shallower "wavy" serrations are the new version. The Military has had the same change as well -- I think the change is related to the durability of the teeth on a CPM-440V blade.

Wait a minute-I just noticed that one of the knives has a half moon cutout on the lock release(the one with the older style more pronounced serrations)The one with the wavyer serations does not have this cutout have they changed this also?I cant believe I missed this I have been looking at them both for over an hour.I guess I was focusing on the serrations.Have they changed this too?

Ben,
You shouldn't keep either one, give them to me so you won't have to worry about it.

I am pretty sure that the lock release with the cutout in it is the new production model.
I don't know about the serrations, but I am fairly certain about the cutout in the lock release.

I wish I could give it to you easyrider. The guy I'm giving it to is one of my bosses. He sure doesn't deserve a knife this nice.I just want to make sure I dont give him the newer/better one.If it was a friend or family it wouldn't matter which one I kept.

I believe the cutout in the lock is a new feature. I believe knifemaker David Boye was the influence for the change. Lower profile minimizes accidental closing and the detent makes the lever easy to locate.

I own a Native without the lock cutout, which I got a few months ago. However, if you look at the pictures of the new limited edition shell inlay Natives, they have a lock cutout and have just been produced. The new Calypso Jr. Lightweight also sport this lock cutout. So once again, I confirm that the knife with the lock cutout is the new Native model.

Well I gave them both away- one to my brother and one to my boss.I'm going to order a couple more spydies at the end of the month so I'll probably order another Native for me

My dad just got a stainless handled Native and that is pretty nice too.
Thanks everyone for your feedback on my questions.
happy thanksgiving,
