Which Native to Give as Gift???

OK, I need help. I had two friends work really hard at my house this weekend, chopping down and removing some trees in my backyard.

I feel it would be really nice to give them a token of my appreciation, so I've decided to give them both a nice pocket knife. I've decided on the Native. I have a Native I, with S30V steel, and I love it. However, I can't decide whether to give them an original style Native or give them the newer Native with the molded scales. I've never personally handled the newer Native IIIs, so I can't decide on which knife my friends would prefer...?

Neither of these 30-something gents are big into knives, but maybe I can convert them? In any case, the knife I give them has to be classic, useful, and stylish. So, given these criteria (and considering the people it's going to), what would you recommend?

Please give me some advice. Blade config for newbies might be something you can also touch on as well. Thanks.

I have and really like them both. However- my Native III has better fit and finish than my S30V, and I like the ergos better. I would expect VG10 to be easier for a newbie to sharpen as well- I haven't sharpened it yet and it is my first VG10 knife, so that's just off what I've read.

For a non-knife person, I would definitely go with the III- looks more impressive, fits the hand better, and they wouldn't appreciate the fact that the Native's S30V anyway. I would suggest getting one for yourself while you're at it- once you hold one you'll want one too!

To tell you the truth, the only thing I like better about the Native is that it is thinner in my pocket- of course the clip has a tendency to catch my shirt hem, so....

Can't go wrong with either one, but that's my $.02

Dang, I wanna go chop down some trees and get a new spydie :P Jk, anyways I would definitly go with the III. I own a I, the III are more ergonomic and the wire clip is really nice, the blade profile is also a little bit better imo. I think the real brain sizzler here is what kindof edge. soo many goodies, so little time
Random Newb question, what does IWB mean?
Cheers! SS

Well, I can't really offer much of an opinion as I only have the S30V version, but IWB means In Waistband carry. :)

i only have the SS aus 10 native , but if i were you i wouldn`t give a newbie a spyderedge knife due to the sharpening challenge posed to a beginner .

i IWB carried my salt pacific to the beach the other day while wearing boardshorts , that was interesting.
