Which Newton Made This?

I took this knife in trade some years back and I really don't have any info on it - I was hoping that maybe one of y'all would be able to identify which Newton made it.

At first I assumed it was Larry Newton based on the mark but this isn't exactly the style of knife that comes to mind when I think of his work. Also, a close examination of the mark shows it to be close to, but slightly different, from the ones that appear on some of his knives (I realize that many makers change their marks over time so maybe that's the case here...).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jason

Hard to say, but it is somewhat reminiscent of Ron Newton's work though the mark is not exactly consistence with his.

Quite often folks seek help in the identification of maker's knives/marks here on this and other forums.
The CKCA is seriously considering researching maker's marks and creating a database on our website to aid in dating knives and help in this type of situation.

You know, it did occur to me that it might have been made by Ron Newton before he earned his MS since the style is, as you pointed out, more consistent with his work but, again, the mark is similar yet not quite the same. Hmmm...

The spur had me thinking it might be an early Ron Newton. Of course, all speculation could be eliminated by e-mailing him and asking him.

Whichever Newton made it, I quite like it.
