Which of these Japanese knives would you pick?

The MCUSTA Katana or the Takeshi Saji "Akabi"? Something different (sub-$150)..?

The knives are completely different. One is a production folder and the other is fixed and handmade. The styles are very different. (Maybe the answer is "neither.") I ask because I like Japan but could never afford the masterwork of this gentleman (check it out.) So far the only fully Japanese knives I own are an MCUSTA and a Higonokami.

These two knives are quite different. I like most of Mcustas, unfortunately Katana is not one of them. I absolutely Take and Bamboo. Out of two of your choice, I would choose Akabi. Gorgeous knife

My shill detector is going off.
Perhaps it needs to be re-calibrated.

When I saw the Katanas I thought they looked gaudy but they've grown on me. Then again I like the Akabi because it's handmade and has shark skin covering the handle...

If you like Katana, may be you can check Browning Knife Ice Storm on secondary market. I beleive this knife was made by Mcusta few years ago, looks like Katana, the same blade steel, less color available, but price was about half to compare to Katana.

Which do you like better, a Corvette or a Custom Harley?

The two are so very different, the only thing they have in common is that they both have blades and are made in Japan. I can see how someone would think you are a shill.

Take out where they are made and you have very different knives. I may like fixed blades better so of course I would choose that one, or vice versa.

Why not find some knives that are stylized similar or are at least both folders or both fixed blades.

Yes, it does seem like you are a shill, I don't think recalibration is required

Please try to remain impersonal when rendering criticism. It remains an honest question.
