Which of these Kershaws should I get?

Thinkin about getting my first Kershaw...I would get a Leek but I can't have assisted opening. Also blade can't be over 3 inches, so PLEASE DON'T recommend a knife that is. I want it to be completely legal.

I'm thinking about the Clash, the Salvo, or the Zing.

Clash looks pretty cool but it seems kind of bulky.

The Salvo is my top choice right now...but on the Kershaw website it says blade length is 3", and in online shops it says the blade length is 3-1/8"...which is it?

Zing also looks pretty decent.

Thoughts?

Cabelas have the Kershaw Storm on sale for 19.00 right now. The blade is 3 inches and the weight is 4 oz and is made in U.S.A. They are being discontinued so its a good deal if you want a great Kershaw American made knife.

Storm looks cool but thats a super heavy recurve, and I don't want serrations which is what Cabela's is offering.

The Zing is a comfortable knife, but a wee bit small in the hand. It's super light and comes sharp like all Kershaws.

If you do want to go with the Leek you can take the torsion bar out making it a manual folder.

Just going with the three youve listed id say a Zing. I have the orange G10 version and love it.

BTW. The clash is assisted so that might narrow it down a little for you.

I never liked the Leek and it's very thin tip...

The Salvo as mentioned is AO...

The Clash has a 3" blade as listed by Kershaw...

The Zing is what I'd go for - the damascus version is definitely hawt!

My choice would be a Kershaw that's not on your list: the OD-1. I picked one up last week and am a huge fan. It's a slim carry and has a very useful blade shape (think of the Leek but with a bit more upsweep toward the tip and a thicker blade stock), a great flipper opening system, and a rock-solid frame lock (stainless steel, with a G-10 scale on the side opposite the lock). The blade length is 2 15/16 inches.

Kershaw Zing or OD-1. Both are excellent flippers that each has its own share of technology.

OD-1 has a cam-system (basically like a simple gear) that rockets the blade out. Also has Hinderer lock-bar stabilizer.

Zing has 3-D striations in a stepped-machined design that results in a clean, almost radiating hollow grind which greatly helps with edge retention. Also, for food prep, literally nothing sticks to the blade.

I would love to get a Leek but I have no means of taking it apart, and I also have no experience in doing so.

Or is the Salvo assisted? It says NON-ASSISTED on the site

Ill look into this one as well, thanks!

They also have the one with out serrations but it is a little heavy. A great knife though. If its not what you want then thats cool. All the other ones you have listed are great knives.

The Storm does have a heavy recurve and is a little heavy, but VERY 'grippy' and comfortable to use.

I say the zing. I love mine. The flipper fires it open easily, the machined striations don't get in the way when cutting, the steel is good and it locks up real tight

I think Im gonna go with the Salvo if I can confirm the blade length...official site says 3", but everywhere else I look online says 3-1/8" or 3-1/4"....what the hell? By the way does anyone have a Salvo that can give me feedback on it?

If its over the 3 the Zing is looking great too, and seems way more popular

The salvo is a very solid knife, got my brother one for Christmas last year... Frame lock, solid lock up, and has been probably the sharpest kershaw out of the box that I've ever handled (he managed to make filet 'o finger about 6 minutes after opening it)... That's said, I have a zing and for a smaller knife, I love it, solid lock up, love the blade shape and very comfortable, that said, it is rather small and I gravitate towards larger folders these days...

The OD-1 is a nice little knife and my favorite of the ones mentioned so far. Plus Walmart carries it so you can at least go look at it first or pay $40 bucks and walk out with a knife if you don't mind Walmart (some people hate the place).

But the one I would go with over all of them is the RAM. It has a great lock which is strong and easy to use and the flipper works so well it shoots out like an AO. No flipping the wrist with this one. I'm about to buy 3 or 4 of them to give out as gifts. Plus the 14XXX steel gets sharper than most others I have used and holds it a decent amount of time.

Get this knife. Do it. Do it.

Do it.

:D

If you can't handle 3 1/8th on the RAM, then I'd say the Zing.
Awesome folder that feels great in hand.

The Ram looks great indeed, and I've heard rave reviews about it from everyone who has owned one...but I'd rather not take the chance, I know there are cops out there that would indefinitely arrest me for that extra 1/8".

On that note I'm gonna go with the Zing. Looks like a great overall knife, fits my budget, and its completely legal.

Thanks knife bros

don't forget about the skyline. it's not assisted, but has a flipper (very addictive). lightwieght, and low price too.

then you can step up to something more expensive!
