Ok, in the spirit of the most embarrasing kife, or thing you've done with a knife, I'll take it one step further. If your knives could tell us about themselves, which one would have the most interesting story to tell?

the hitler youth knife my dad brought back from italy in WW2 which a german paratrooper gave to my dad when he surrendered, he was an officer, and gave my dad his belt/buckle/pistol and holster (P38)and the knife and sheath, my dad gave him 3 packs of ciggs, in talking to the german captain, he said he had been in the german paras since '37 and had been in crete, russia and italy, carrying the knife he had had since he was 13 or so, and it had been thru sevveral jumps.

still have the knife/sheath (in prob 85+% condition)and the P38 and holster (P38 in 90+% shape, holster is in good shape, but looks 50 yrs old, and the mags for the P38 are both numbered to the pistol)lost the belt/buckle thru the yrs.

my dad also brought back a SA dagger he got off a dead german in italy, but no real story behind it. he also brought back a mod 98 mauser K98 8MM, in better shape than ANY '98 i have EVER seen, at any gun show, on TV, etc - it is in 95+% condition, my dad got when brand new out of a big pile of them, and shipped it home in pieces, got home and scrubbed the cosmoline out, and rarely fired the thing, in incredible shape, wood and finish and bore all EXCELLENT, only a few MINOR dings in the wood/etc from the yrs......

knife w/the biggest story that i bought/acquired would be my gerber mk2 i bought new in '68, have had that one a while, for sure, it could tell a story/or 2

That would have to be my leatherman tool. When I was on my way to Desert shield/storm we took a c-130 from Arkansas to mcguire AFB, New Jersey, then a Bus down to Dover AFB Deleware.
now I need to fill this space in first. I had bought a leatherman tool a few months before that. The guys I was stationed with made fun of it and called it a "useless" tool. Now mind you this was before they started issueing these to us.
So anyway on our way down to Dover the bus broke down at three o'clock in the morning.
they asked if anyone had any tools. no one answered, so I offered my leatherman. the guys with me laughed and called me "plierman" (a name that eneded up sticking, besides "knifeman" for the next 7yrs I was in the AF). they used my leatherman to get the bus running.
little was said to me after that as far as making fun of me for it. We then took a 141 overseas.

I have never decided whether it was the fact that the bus was running again and they were upset, or because they found out my leatherman was good for something?
after all I know I for one didnt want to go to begin with.:)

hmmm....

The best story would be the ATS-34 folder I just sold...

It came all the way from Thailand to find me.

It cut everything like it was butter.

Including me, on many occasions...oh yeah, maybe that's why it left me...

:D
