I've heard oiling or waxing the handles of Busse knives brings out the "look". Can anyone give me tips and/or brands of oil or wax they use? Thanks

Mineral oil works great on the micarta handles to bring out the colors.

Give it a shot.

mineral oil will only last for a very little time. I have used brown shoe polish on my handles. It does darken them, and eventually it lightens back up. It seems to be grippy enough. I will try and post some pics.

the Ash handle is actually black canvas. It took a nice brown shine.

Teak oil on canvas. Its what we use at Begg Knives. I used it on my FBMLE and it looks great! Use WD40 on paper

I have used clear shoe polish. It works great. Not as shiny as mineral oil, but lasts longer and is not greasy.

People have used tung oil, linseed oil, and Tru Oil for a more permanent finish.

With equal results? I'm gonna see if I have any of those laying around.

Can't say, haven't got around to trying it myself. But those are all drying oils, the dry times will vary, but the end results may not be that different.

I ususallly just drizzle the grease that comes off my bacon onto the handles when I'm done cooking breakfast. seems to work okay.

WD40 will also work. I personally don't like any oil on the handle for grip purposes. El Natural;)

i have always went with wax on wood and oil on the metal, mineral oil is excellent on the metal, most anything that you wax your furniture with will work on the scales.

i never store any knife in a sheath, especially leather.

sometimes i will just use plain wax paper to wrap the knife in, hence the butcher paper that many knives are shipped in.

I need to get some clear polish. I need to make my SS handle shiny again. I took the purdy off when I stripped it.
