Which one and why?

drop point:

I would go with the drop point. It is a much better suited for general cutting tasks. Satin finish because it is much easier to maintain.

Get the 551 (drop point)...Why? Because I said so..

Drop-Point, Satin. Because... it just feels right for that combination.

I think the drop point is more usefull day-to-day. And I have one and like it. If I were you I would get either the D2 version from Cabela's, or the S30V Griptillian.

Satin Finish all the way. Coatings do nothing but wear off and look like hell.

I never had a tanto until I bought a Benchmade 722.

I'll never buy another one.

I just don't like the way they cut and slice compared to a drop-point.

So, I recommend the 551 or 556.
