I have several Beckers but nothing in the five inch size. So which of the two BK 2 or BK 10, would you recommend first and why?

Thank you!

I hate to say it, especially in this subforum; but, for this blade length, I generally make other choices.
That said, between the two mentioned, I choose the BK2(2) without hesitation. I agree that most would probably find the BK10 better for general use...I simply don't have the appreciation for it that I do for other Beckers. I'd rather jump up to the 7, or down to the 16. (Luckily, I also have the option of using the "BK12"...and I often do)

I don't have either, but if I knew what I do now....
I'd maybe have picked the BK12 as my first Becker too...

I love it's general blade shape....

Realizing my last post read as being less than helpful, I just wanted to add something useful.

You should really check them both out by handling them. They’re both great knives and only you know how you’re going to use it. The 2 is an essential Becker classic. The 10 is Ethan’s modern update/tribute to the stalwart Airforce pilot’s survival knife. You can’t go wrong with either, all Becker’s are great knives.

Seriously do you want a completely usable and very tough knife or a gimmicks pry bar the will crush and chop....no slicing or other common knife usage......guess which one I like!....I own both

Between those 2, I'd got for the BK10 any day, unless you need to dismantle a tank.

I've finally unpacked all my knives and sharp toys since moving last May, so the inventory is fresh in mind. The fact that I now have 3 BK10s and no BK2s kind of says it all for me.

I love the 2 for it's indestructability but the 10 is my go to cutter. If I was buying one, the 10 would be it.
