Which One Do You Prefer?

I read Tactical Knives magazine and in my opinion it beats Blade magazine all to pieces. I've read some reviews of some outstanding combat knives. The knives I'm referring to are the Gerber Trident, Chris Reeve Green Beret Knife, and the Simonich Raven. I was very impressed with all of them and if I could afford all of them, they would be mine. Which one would you buy and what are your reasons? They all cut well and received high regards in reference to performance. Thanks for reading my forum!!

Whenever I have the opportunity, that means if I come across it (Tactical Knives), I will read it. As for Blade magazine, it too has its positive side.

I would say both magazines complement each other. The knives you mentioned are no doubt quality blades. As for preference, it really depends on what you want to do with them.

Those who tested the knives have their own criteria. They are probably not wrong. Suppose, you are a hunter and hunting is your favourite pastime, then you probably wouldn't want too big a knife, or a blade that is unsuitable for dressing game or field work.

There are a lot of good knives which come in all shapes, sizes and grinds. One kind of knife does not suit all occasions or all kinds of work.

A soldier would opt for the kind of knife he knows is best suited for the kind of work he does. A man who goes fishing would want another kind of knife.

So does a Boy Scout or an office worker. For me, a good multitool will do for most days.

I have to agree with Golok they all have their place TK tends to favor the user, while Blade tends to lean toward the collector, and KI seems to lean either way in any paticular issue. Than of course there is Knife World which seems to me to be the best as far as content, the articles are first rate, the only downside is that because it's in a newspaper format, the photos are not magazine quality.

They both have there place. I have to read them both, they focus on many sieds of cutlery. Paul

With all due respect, I think this post was meant to elicit opinions regarding the knives he mentioned, not the magazines.

Sorry coffee hasn't kicked in yet:confused: , with the addititional info I'd like to change my answer your Honor.

Tactical knives give a more realistic user review of the products out there.

Of those 3 choices, I would pick the Gerber Silver Trident, as I like the ("rubber") handle style and the wide guard on it the best. I also really like the 154CM steel.

Well, the Green Beret is the only one of those I've actually had the opportunity to fondl ... er, I mean handle , and I really liked it, so probably the Green Beret. The Raven looks really nice too, but I'm not real fond of the Gerber. Just personal preference, I'm sure it's a great knife. I don't like rubber handles except in a few rare instances.

One vote for Rob. His mid-tech Ravens reportedly sport almost custom quality fit and finish.

As far as reviews in knife publications go...ever read a negative review of any knife?
The magazines need every ad they can get.
