Hi, I am new the knife forum. I am thinking of getting the Surv-Tac 5 or the SK-5 Black Bird from Ontario Knife. I do not know which one I should get.

I would get the one that appeals to you the most. I don't know what you intend to do with it, so it is hard to say one way or the other. The Ontario appeals to me more. But if you are looking for a really tough blade for woods use (survival), I would lean toward 1095 steel myself and probably a different knife all together. Take a look at the Kabar Beckers.

Flip a coin! Actually, decide considering your intended use.

Surv-Tac if you plan to set traps for police in the wilderness near Hope, Washington, or the Black Bird for general outdoor use.

Just a little joke.. The Surv-Tac honestly looks like it would be good for absolutely nothing unless you want a knife to beat on. The SK5 in comparison is clearly designed for actual outdoor use.

But as the previous posters said, it depends what you plan to do with it.

Thank You for the feed back, I am going to start taking survival classes. I am leaning towards the SK-5. I like the way the look of the Surv-Tac 5. May I should just get both. one to look to and one to use.
