OK here is yet another such thread... I'm interested in your opinions (handling, steel and lock quality) about the following two knives:
DeltaZ vs. Kellam F15D. It won't be extensively used of course - I will use my S2K to open heavy packages ;)

I've never actually seen the Kellam in person (but the pic looks OK), but my comment on the Delta Z is that it is a thick knife. Its build quality is excellent, and the fit, finish and materials (the wood is beautiful) used are top notch, but for a knife that is going to be in the pocket rolling around, it just seems too thick (from handle slab to handle slab) to be comfortable. I would say that it is overbuilt for what it is (a nice gent's knife). If you have the chance, take a look at one in person. I know someone who bought one and carried it at the office for a little while, but the weight and thickness (the thickness was his major complaint, and if you knew to look you could always see it in his front pocket of some Kakis) caused him to replace it as his EDC. He still has it and breaks it out occasionally, but I haven’t seen him carry it once this year.

I'd pick these for an everyday user type knife. I own the smaller one, and it has been one of my favorite knives for years(actually I have an older model with NiAg bolsters). The steel holds up really well. I believe they are damascus sides over a high carbon core. It takes a mean edge, and holds it well. Plus they are a bit cheaper, if not as refined looking (quality is still VERY good). If you want to save a bit, and still end up with a reliable damascus blade, I'd go for the A.G.Russell knives.

Here's a pic.

If you have your mind on your two choices, I'd go for the Delta Z. Nice tight pattern, and stainless, to boot!

1095 and W2 are now stainless:eek: ? No - 1095 and w2 are carbonsteels. Manufacturer calls it "super stainless" but it doesn't fulfill requirements to be called stainless. 1095-W2-nickel damascus is definitely not stainless. Nickel will not satin but 1095 and w2 will. I call it rostafrei super duper damascus ;).
BTW only stainless damascus I'd buy is Damasteel or some sanmai style ss dam knife with cutting edge of real high carbon stainless steel. Most SS damascus steels won't hold decent edge.
