if you read my post about the gortex socks then you know I got a REI gift card and I got some play money.

attached pic of sak fieldmaster $34

thanks

sak trailmaster: same as a rucksack only philips instead of corkscrew. $36. locking blade larger saw and blade

leatherman juiceXe6 $75.00
has: saw, diamond file, scissors

no toothpick:mad: but anodized scales tough:D

sorry for all the posts:o

i have a black handled sak called the fireman, it has a liner lock on the screw driver blade and the big blade, also a blunt tipped serrated blade for cutting seatbelts, etc. the locking mechanism is different than the ruksak model. i like it a lot and have used it to make fire sets, and just generall outdoor stuff.

Chris, Congratulations. ALL of the Tools you have selected are spot on
for everyday urban / wilderness use. Your choices reflect a good thought
process of careful evaluation of the possible needs you might encounter
with no fantasy about what will work.

My fav of what's you picked is the Fieldmaster as it closely matches
my needs when a leatherman can't go along.

Bravo, mate.

tightwad,
It seems the field master has a shorter blade but it is more compact for your pocket.

eventually I will get a trailmaster but I just found out REI doesn't carry the SAK lockblades:mad: I hope it isn't because the blade is TOO BIG!

and the juice seems so expensive for basically a swiss army knife I do like the fact that it is probably a bit tougher than the sak.

thanks

of the three, I like the fieldmaster. Folks here on bladeforums have recently convinced me of the usefulness of the saw, and I find the scissors a great convenience in the city. The lack of a lock is a minor inconvenience, I admot. If you must have the lockback, I'll vote for the trailnmaster, though why anyone would get any SAK without a corkscrew is beyond me:D

I'm planning on a huntsman as my next daily carry knife.

I cast my vote for the one I already chose for that job. It is attached to the shoulder strap of my daypack ready for the "outdoor experience". If I ever lose my SAK "Super Tinker" (Valentine present from the significant other) the Trailmaster would then become my every day carry as well.

For me, it would be a toss up between the Fieldmaster and the Trailmaster, I guess its a matter of scissors vs a larger locking blade. The Juice looks very nice but is a bit too pricey (I'll bet the prices will come down a bit after they have been out for a while).
