Which One of These Would You Choose?

This is one of my shameless market research posts... :D
But hey, if I know what peoples' preferences the stuff I make will be better.

Suppose you have a choice of two sheaths. One has a belt loop that is part of the back half of the sheath, and the other has a belt loop made from a separate piece of leather and stitched to the sheath. Which one would you choose?

Durability-wise the first is stronger, but I never actually managed to tear off a stitched belt loop either, so sheath failure isn't likely. The second sheath does ride a little further off the belt, which makes it slightly easier to grab the knife and pull it out. And obviously on the integral loop sheath the flesh side of leather is showing, where on the other sheath only the grain side is visible, which is nicer.

So, all other things being equal, which one would you choose? Integral or stitched on?

I'd be happy with the integral. The stitched looks better , but I like my sheaths to be as small and light as possible.

My expertience is the integral will eventually crack where it bends over backwards.

...for the same reasons that you posted, Vess, especially for the durability.... ;)

Oookay, integral it is... :)

I was just playing with a variety of belt loops, wanted to give people a lot of options to choose from. Figured everyone had their preferences. But it looks like integral is a clear winner here. :D
