Which one should I get?

Hey I'm new to the forum and wanted to know which one of these I should buy. I don't want any suggestions to buy a different knife. I currently have my eyes on the Manix 2 in S110V and the Benchmade 940-1 and can't decide which one to get. I am going to be using the knife as an EDC(e.g. opening packages, possible food prep, etc). I have a 940 in S30V and I'm happy with it's performance and a Manix 2 in CTS BD1 but don't find the edge retention of the Carpenter Steel to match up to the S30. Which knife do you think is worth the upgrade. I don't have a problem with taking a few minutes to sharpen either steel.

The Manix 2. Incredible knife. I have a G10 Sprint in CTS-XHP and I swear the knife was designed around my hand. S110V is a phenomenal steel. That and I think the 940-1 is vastly overpriced.

Also, if you want, you can buy a cheap user G10 Manix 2 and put the S110V blade in it, make it a Frankenmanix.

Thanks for the input. I would actually be buying the 940-1 from a family member who doesn't like it and would be selling it to me for $160(About the price of the Manix 2 S110V on the Spyderco website). The 940-1 is basically brand new.

That's a good deal on the 940-1, however the Manix 2 is $110 from most reputable dealers. I say get both, sell whichever you don't like.
You probably won't see the 940-1 for that cheap again so keep that in mind. I've tried them both and much prefer the Manix lineup!

The Manix 2 lw S110V can be found for quite a bit cheaper than that. Check out bladeforums paid dealers and the exchange. Spyderco's website is going to charge full msrp.

There's a Manix 2 Cruwear Sprint goin for $135 on the exchange btw.

I have to 2nd the kitten the Manix is the way to go the 940 is to thin in the hand at least for me.

I prefer the 940-1 over the Manix 2 S110V because it carries much better in the pocket and is easier to deploy. I've also been extremely impressed with the speed and scope of Benchmade's customer service. Both are excellent top of the line knives, however.

The Manix 2's lock is similar to the BM Axis lock, but a better design using a durable coil spring instead of the tiny wire Omega springs of the Axis.

The blade and handle of the Manix 2 are more versatile as well, IMO.

S110V Manix 2 is an awesome knife. I'm someone who is extremely hesitant to spend over $100 on a folder, and, well, I spent over $100 for the S110V Manix, and I have no regrets.

The big considerations are sharpening the steel and the handle material. IF you don't mind FRN scales, and IF you can sharpen the steel, then go for the Manix.

I have a good number of BM models but not the 940, and I'm carrying the 913 this week, but I still would recommend the Manix. I also note that a lot of people like the 940 so that is a good reason to buy them both.

A little off topic, you said that you were not impressed with Carpenter's CTS-BD1. That steel itself has awful edge retention, like literally the worst. It is ranked category 9. NINE!!! On Ankerson's edge retention thread, as way of reference 420HC is ranked 8 (better). If you compared Carpenter's CTS-204P or CTS-20CP, they both have some of the best edge retention among all steels.

Also, I say go for the 940-1 at that price, get the Manix later. I also prefer carbon fiber over FRN.
