Which One Should I Keep?

I recently purchased two beautiful Small Sebenza 21's, one manufactured on September 15, 2011 with S35VN and the other manufactured on December 14, 2010 with S30V. They are both in perfect condition, both are solid and both make me smile whenever I hold them...

However, I can only keep one. Which one should I keep?

Thanks for your help and all the wisdom freely shared on this wonderful forum!

Do they both say "IDAHO MADE"?
That may sway me towards the one without it even though it's S30V.

Yes...both are stamped "Idaho Made", but I don't mind the stamp...

This is purely subjective, but I have both a S30V and a S35VN Sebenza. The S30V one actually seems to be easier to sharpen and to hold an edge a bit longer. This might be due to the S30V knife having been sharpened more, not sure, but there you go.

Are they identical? Does one have wood inlays and the other micarta? Or are they both plain jane?

If they're both plain jane, keep the S30V and sell the other.

I would say keep the S30V only because S35VN is more readily available on the knives that are being rolled out, and should you have regret not keeping the S35VN, you can find one easily.

I love S30V - I think no matter what evidence is presented, it's a better steel.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have decided to keep the S30V!

S30V, easier to sharpen or at least it seems to me

BUT check the geometry too, keep the one with the geometry that suits your likings better and the one with the best lock
or keep both :D

Forgive a newbie question, but what is "geometry" in the knife world?

Nevermind...found it on Google...

I mean thickness of the edge, the one that "cuts" better, look it from the tip to the lanyard, look at the edge and it's "thickness"

on mine one has a thin "belly" the other one a thicker one, the tip is accordingly different on the 2

Both are great steels. I would keep the one with the earliest lock up and strongest detent.
