I need some help here I can't decide between a pm2 or a stretch. I like both, the stretch has a better blade shape to me. The pm2 feels like it would stand up to hard use better. I guess what I need is a gentle push one way or the other lol. Thanks.

As a PM2 owner, I can assure you that it's a knife that's made to be used. Comfortable, easy to deploy and close, and lots of customization options out there if that's your thing. I'd say go with a PM2.

consideration 1- the PM2 is designed for one-hand operation, the lockback knife is not.
consideration 2- a G10/liner knife is usually smoother than a knife with FRN frame.
Either one would work very well for you.

I own them both, great knives. If you're wanting an ultra smooth action go for PM2. If that doesn't really matter, flip a coin. :)

I have to disagree totally with consideration 1. My Stretch ( all 3) are one handed open and close. My ZDP-189 CF Stretch is smoother than my PM2. More resistance, yes, but it is incredibly smooth.

Para 2 is easier to operate one-handed and has better fidget factor, Stretch is the better slicer and I find that it has better ergos (don't get me wrong, the PM2 has good ergos, the Stretch just has better for me).

I agree, and was going to write something very similar.

The G10/liner thing does not make sense either... since you can get mid locks with G10/liner construction as well, and they aren't necessarily "smoother" operating than FRN versions.
What you're perceiving as smoothness is probably the free falling pivot of the Compression-lock vs. the slower moving action of the mid-lock. Although either can be easily flicked or operated one-handed safely.

I have a few versions of both the PM2 and Stretch and they both get near equal carry time.
In my experience the Stretch is just slightly more comfortable in pocket. The PM2 has a pointer tip.
They both come in different steel flavors also. For the base models I tend to like VG-10 slightly better than S30V, but there are a whole bunch of other steels you can find the PM2 with.

All I can say is that if you have to use that blade for any type of extremely rough work and/or brutal cutting jobs then I can tell you first hand that there is something special about those GOLDEN, CO USA made Spyders. I literally tried to destroy my 440V, full SE NATIVE model (GOLDEN USA made) and I couldn't do it. And I still use my 440V Spyderedged Native for my extremely rough cutting jobs and it works like a champ.

So based on that I would recommend you get the Golden, CO USA made unit>> and I've heard nothing but good to excellent comments about the newer Paramilitary models. I'm actually looking hard for an M390 Para2 myself. Now don't get me wrong because I'm in no way talking bad about Spyderco's Japan made Spyders because GOD knows I've put some of them through hell as well. But the GOLDEN, CO USA made Spyders are made for hard use and abuse and they endure it well.

Both great knives, toss a coin and get one now and the other later, then the Manix 2....you're gonna have all of those sooner or later.

If I was in your position I would grab a stretch in Super Blue while they're still affordable. Knife has some real character

Can't go wrong with either. My suggestion would be just get them both. If you buy one you will only want the other. I also have both and love them equally.

para military 2,then you could measure every thing else to it ! yep,its that good...

I believe the Para 2 to be the perfect EDC. If you have a few extra bucks track down a sprint run with some nice steel. I could not recommend the PM2 enough.

I went with the pm2 local knife shop had both but the para felt better in the pocket. Now I need to sell my strider ar since it never got carried to fund some more spydercos lol.

I had a stretch but never warmed up to it. I much preferd am endura or delica. I also don't understand the price jump from an endura to a strecth. It's the same materials but like a $20 difference.
