Hey everyone, I'm looking at three CS knives for a tough edc. I'm looking at:
Mini AK47
Mini Lawman
Mini Recon 1
So which do you guys suggest? I need as robust a tip as possible, easy to clean, ergonomic, and easy to use completely one handed. I like the wave and shape of the AK, the finger grooves on the ML, and the overall design of the R1. The most important feature is a robust tip, Tanto is ok!

Recon and lawman are hollow grinds. Good for slicing and cutting not super robust. Not sure on the ak?

The finger grooves on the ML are actually not that great. I have one, and unless your fingers are EXACTLY the perfect size, they will not fit the grooves perfectly. Also, since it is grooved the entire length of the handle, a four-finger grip is nearly impossible (You can still do it, but it is not very comfortable.)

And since you said that tip strength is the most important factor, I would say go with a Mini Recon 1 with a tanto point. Under $90 at several major retailers.

A tanto blade will give you the best tip strength. I would go with a recon 1. I would not get a mini but thats just me.

The mini Recon will have the most robust tip, specifically the Tanto or spear point models. My only problem with the mini models is the triad lock seems to stick most in those specific models.

Does the stick go away?

Mini Recon 1s has the most robust tip.
Contrary to popular believe the diamond cross section of the spearpoint or the clip point would give you more strength than the tanto point. I know this sounds counter intuitive, but most blade tip breaks at the very end, probably somewhere within the first 1/4 inch of the tip. The robust shape of the tanto point is actually not going to help the very end of the tip at all. This is speaking from experience as I own all blade variations of the mini Recon 1, full size Recon 1 and Code 4. The Tanto models always come with the thinnest cross-section at the very end of the tip compared to the others where it matters.

The full size Lawman has the best ergonomics for edc IMO.

+1 for the full size lawman, the tip strength is not as robust as the recon 1 series tho, mainly because the end of the tip has a hollow ground cross section instead of the diamond shape.

If the tip wouldnt be the most important, I would recommend the hold our 3 (best edc imo). I had mini lawman, not full 4 finger grip, did not really like it, sold it. I have a clip point mini recon, love it, although the finger groves could fit slightly better, comfortable 4 finger grip. Mini recon has the smoothest triad lock I ever experienced, don't be afraid of sticking lock. Never had mini ak, but if the tip is the priority, go with the tanto mini recon. Good looking little tank. Or check out the new pro lite, although it bigger than the above listed

Used to EDC the Mini Lawman, and then switched to the Mini Recon 1 spearpoint. No experience with the AK, but don't think you could go wrong with any of them. The finger grooves on the ML were fine for me (I would say I have average size hands/fingers), and I have had no issues with any of the Triad locks I've had so far (up to 6 I think). The only negative I could see is with the ML if the grooves don't fit your fingers...any way you could handle one before you buy?
