Which would hold up better a Kershaw Lahar or Spyderco Endura? It would be used at work in heavy construction.

I have no experience with the Lahar, but I'm sure it would hold up very well. As I know the Endura would. So, from there it would be personal preference and comfort, I'd imagine. Both come in vg10 steel.

Would you prefer the "flipper" on the Kershaw, or the Spydie hole? I prefer the hole. The Lahar also seems to have a bit of recurve on the blade, some love it, some hate it, and it can be harder to sharpen depending on how you sharpen. Enduras fit my hand nicely, but the handle on the Kershaw appears to be very comfortable, though I've never actually handled it....

This may be a little bit of an apples and oranges comparison. The Lahar out-weighs the Endura about 2 oz. A better comparison might be with the Spyderco Manix 2. However, the Lahar and Endura are both good knives. I don't have one, but the Kershaw seems to be more 'heavy duty'. Of course it depends on how exactly you are going to use the knife. If slicing then either would probably work. If you want a pry bar the Kershaw is probably better.

I own a couple of Endura's so I think they are great knives.

I don't own a kershaw but I hear they are really nice....Id recommend the Endura

Knives aren't meant to pry. If you do you will eventually be disappointed. They do make little key chain size pry bars if prying might be necessary.

The Lahar is more heavy duty and has a thicker tip. The Lahar will probably take more abuse as it is more 'beefy.' I think it also uses thicker blade steel.

The back lock on the Endura might be a little more robust than the liner lock though.

As was mentioned the Manix 2 might be worth a look and isn't that much more money.

I think the Lahar has also been discontinued and might become harder to find.

That's not much help I'm sure. While I really want to like the Lahar because of size, shape, materials etc I just don't carry it that much. I would much rather carry the Manix 2, which I do carry often.
