sog knives seal 2000 or tom brown tracker? i`ve got a user seal 2000 and a tom brown tracker on the way. so, which ones heavier?

I'd say the Tracker wins this contest.

ETA: TRacker = 1 lb. 12 oz.
Seal 2000 = 12.6 oz.

Edit: Mr. Wilson beat me, while I was looking up axe weights.

The Tom Brown Tracker outweighs many Gränsfors Bruks axes and hatchets, though I'm willing to bet it doesn't outchop them. ;)

For the weight of the Tom Brown Tracker, you could carry a SEAL 2000 and a GB Wildlife Hatchet.

hhhhhmmmmmmm , it`ll be interesting when it shows up. is this in fact too heavy to be useful?

I know weight becomes a real issue when you have to carry it all day, for several days, over rough terrain, in lousy weather.

For the weight of the TOPS Tracker you could carry a knife that will be a lot handier for general cutting than the Tracker and an axe that will do a much better job chopping than the TOPS Tracker.

I mentioned the SEAL 2000 because you included it for the comparison. If a smaller and lighter knife was chosen, like the SEAL Pup (5.4 oz) you could carry a larger axe like the GB Hunter's Axe or the GB Forest Axe.

Either way, it's going to be your back that has to carry the load. ;)

;) If it turned out you don't like that Tom Brown Tracker.. I'll be happy to take it off your hands..

My "large" Roselli Axe is only about 30 ounces and the tracker is 28? Wow. Even adding on the weight of a dedicated fixed blade, I think I'd rather have my real chopper and real knife than the unitary jack-of-all-trades. Also, as I understand the concept, it is suggested that one carry a small fixed blade in addition to the Tracker, right?

Roselli R850 + 10cm puukko=35 ounces or ~2.2 pounds, or about 1kg.
Tracker and Scout=34 ounces or 2.125 pounds or 964g.

I think I'd rather have the former for the savings of almost $250.00

Oh man, from the thread title I thought it was gonna be, Which is heavier.....

a ton of dryer lint or a ton of magnesium? :D :D

Skunk..
Come on.. Everybody knows a ton of magnesium is heavier!!
Oh no.. Wait. It's the ton of dryer lint.
