I carry a Queen Gunstock on a regular basis. With carved stag bone and D-2 blade steel, a steel I really like.
But I've never tried a 22 Mag so I really can't compare, but anything from Great Eastern is going to be worthwhile!

Really tough to decide between these 2 options. They're both fine lookin pocket knives!

I had the 22 in cocobolo. A beautiful knife. Works perfect in the watch pocket. You won't go wrong with a GEC.

I'm the opposite way round to Dave (Knowtracks) above, I have a 22 in cocobolo, and really like it, but haven't tried the Queen Gunstock :)

It's true that both are fairly small but if I'm not mistaken, there is a substantial difference in size. I believe the Queen is nearly an inch longer than the GEC. Quite a bit of a size difference here.

You could buy a rough rider gunstock just to see if you like the larger size. If you decide you need smaller then buy the 22 mag. If you want a knife the size of the rough rider, then you could pick up a Queen or variety of the numerous sfo gunstocks. The rough rider wouldn't set you back more than two value meals at a drive through, and you'll know pretty quickly what size will meet your needs.

There is a significant size difference. The gunstock is one of Queen's finest patterns. And the 22 was a great effort by GEC. But again, you could nearly fit the 22 inside the 40.

The 22 Magnum is a peanut sized knife. The gunstock is a standard 3.5 inch closed knife. I like the smaller one.

Here is the size of the 22 and the pemberton 6. The great thing about these little knives is you can carry three in a watch pocket:D

Best regards

Robin

Here's the best I can do for comparison, a 3 1/2 inch Winchester beside the 22 2 5/8 th and the pemberton 6 at 2 3/4.

Best regards

Robin

Same pattern, but big difference in size.
I'm partial to the 3,5" size range, so my vote goes for the Queen.
Also, unless you are used to it, a <3" slipjoint might feel too small to be useful (again it's a matter of taste and preference).

I don´t own a #22 but I own a Queen Gunstock and like that knife very much. I also carry this on an EDC basis. The bone on mine is such amazing material.

At the size of roundabout 3.5 inches it makes a great "full-size-traditional-pocket-knife" :)

I own both and can take a side by side shot for you when I get home from work tonight. Both are fantastic knives but like others have said are not the same size. The GEC 76 Outlaw Jack would be a much better comparison though. In reality all 3 of these are must haves so just get whichever is cheapest then get the next and the next and then pretty soon you'll want to try out a 66 Calf Roper....... basically it never ends. :)

I like the Gunstock pattern. Considered the GEC 22 but end getting a Schatt & Morgan#032140 Gunstock Jack Pint, the Queen's uppity cousin. Fit and finish is excellent. Very nice stag scales. I don't carry it, just display it.
If it's hard to decide between the GEC and Queen, go for broke, get both!

I have both and as the others have stated there is quite a size difference. Buy both if you can.
I'll try and get a side by side pic tomorrow.

The Queen will ride in the RFP and the GEC will fit in watch pockets nicely. 3 5/8 vs 2 5/8
There is a huge difference in steel as wel, GEC's 1095 will reprofile and sharpen on the average stone. For the Queen especially to reprofile you will need Diamonds, once done they can be maintained easily.

thanks for all the info guys....I all over the place as far as what im thinking im gonna buy.....im really liking the northfield 99 wall street in autumn bone as well............
