Which Production company makes the best liner locks?

I agree. Spyderco. They make mighty nice compression locks, too.

It's Spyderco alright, but not all of them. The ones with the eccentric pivot and well-ramped tang are the winners.

Re: Compression lock: Until Spyderco comes out with a lock that keeps the knife closed in your pocket like an Axis lock, they're a step behind Benchmade in this department. Compression locks still suffer from the same fatal flaw you see in a regular liner lock: once they're bumped open even a little, they're open.

I have a spuderco starmate, and it's one of my absolute favourite knives. It's linerlock is the best i had so far.
I also used to carry a Benchmade stryker, that linerlock was very good too. wore to 3/4 and kept sticking there for the last 3 years. I think Ti liners are only good when the tip is workhardened (or wear-hardened).

On the other hand, I had a Small AFCK from BM, and that steel liner wore in about 2 years trough. Had to retire it.

Liners are odd objects..some wear, other don't..

My vote for best linerlock goes to Spyderco, but i have a Microtech coming up..maybe it'll change my view.

I really like the microbar lock. It is so thick it appears to be an integral lock. I would like to see MT use it on more of there knives. Overall I would have to go with Spyderco. Have yet to see a bad linerlock from this company!

Picked up a large Kasper yesterday, just because of the great lock. Locks up tight and secure and a thumb actuated device to keep it there!

From Model to Model I would also have to say Spyderco too. However I have an olser Benchmade Stryker that has to be one of the best liner locks I have ever handled from any production knife and even many customs.

From what I've personally seen, I'd say Microtech, but I really try to avoid liner locks when I can, so take that for what it's worth. My LCC is the only liner lock which I've actually felt vaguely safe using.

I haven't bought a liner lock in years, so my impressions aren't as hands-on as I'd like -- I only get to handle them at shows, or get loaners from friends. My impression at the moment is that Spyderco and Benchmade are relatively better, Microtech at least a full step down from there (reliability just isn't up to the other two), CRKT at or below. Still, liner locks are difficult to do consistently well, so don't just trust the name on the label!

I would tend to agree with the people that think Spyderco offers the best liner lock. I have owned a few, and they have all been very good knives.

Based on both reliability and ease of use, I'd vote for Spyderco. My Military is by far my favorite folder, regardless of lock types.

The Outdoor Edge Magna, while not as fast to deploy the blade and not as easy to disengage the liner lock, seems nearly impossible to accidentally disengage the lock, due to the barely-exposed liner and the very strong tension of the thick locking liner.

Of the knives I own, I'd pick the Military as the best overall design in the $100 price class and the Magna as the very best value in the $40 price class. The Magna outclasses any of the CRKT knives in terms of value, especially when you compare the AUS8 blade of the Magna against the AUS6 blades offered by CRKT in the $40 price class.

Spyderco and Microtech.
