The knife is going to be used for camping, splitting, battoning, cutting, skinning, prying, basic survival usage and i am going to be very rough on it. I do not like serrated edge knives. the rc-6 is serrated. Maybe the rc5? let me know please.

Also how sharp can you get the rc5? does the thickness of the blade make it unable to get extremely sharp?

thanks for taking the time

You can make the rc5 very sharp. But because of the width it won't always slice as well as thinner blades. My father was commenting on how sharp I kept my five the other day, and I don't really do anything to it

My RC5 pushes hair. You don't even feel it cut.

However the RC4 will work just as well as a camping knife with far less weight. Mine has become my EDC blade.

The RC6 is also great as a camp knife with a thinner edge geometry it cuts like the dikens. Not quite as handy as the RC4.

Depending on what size/weight you're comfortable with, I'd say a plain edge RC-4 or RC-6.

As for where to buy :

Two Wolves Outdoor
The Knife Connection

Smiling was my favorite until my boss told me to make work my favorite.

Now work's my favorite.

RC6 would be my choice for a "camp" blade.

For a belt knife, RC3/4. I prefer the RC3 myself, especialy if paired with the 6.

Then an Izula in the bag or PSK and your set!!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer some of my questions. i appreciate it. I am probably going to go for the RAT RC5 though/ It looks like a really tough "beast" of a knife that will batton through anything. Thanks for all your input

This is just my opinion buy I dont think the RC-5 would be the first choice out of the RAT arsenal. I think it holds a special place in the survival world and is a brute to handle the numerous tasks that you have mentioned.

Some people like brutish blades. I feel the five is not ideal in theory, but I still grab it for hikes some days. Just something nice about it.
