The knife is going to be used for camping, splitting, battoning, cutting, skinning, prying, basic survival usage and i am going to be very rough on it. I do not like serrated edge knives. the rc-6 is serrated. Maybe the rc5? let me know please.

Also how sharp can you get the rc5? does the thickness of the blade make it unable to get extremely sharp?

thanks for taking the time

The RC5 is new i guess at the moment and people have more experience with the RC6. I actually prefer the look of the RC5 over the RC6. But i am looking for the best knife from RAT for the tasks i mentioned in my previous post. RC5 is thicker than the RC6 therefore tougher.

All knives can be had with plain edge or combo edge. I like the RC5 myself but for legal carry around here the RC4 is a goo edc. I think the RC6 will serve you best with a plain edge.

RC 5 is a BEAST of a knife. You will end up own one of each :D of course. Sounds to me like the RC 6 would fit the bill from your requirements.

Both are solid knives, but because you list battoning and prying (very carefully I hope), the RC-5 with it's thicker blade may be a better choice.

get the rc6 in plain edge, simple as that:D

Couldn't say it better. +1,000,000 :cool::thumbup:

The RC-6 will stand up to plenty of abuse, including more twisting and prying than you might think. And it slices a lot better than the 5.

RC6 and an Izula... at least that's what I did. — What type of prying are you gonna be doing?

Izula is a must. I have found this out over the last week. Mine is fantastic and unbelievably sharp after touching it up on the sharpmaker. It's gonna ride with me while on duty for a while.
