I'm on my way to Rogers, MN. Presuming the knife shop is still at the TA, I am going to buy a SAK.
As Alex Trebeck of 'Jeopardy' would say ...
The question is ... Tinker, Super Tinker, Hunter, or Farmer?
Red covers are a given. I cannot afford the Alox or not red covers.

I am leaning to Super Tinker.

I'm a big fan of the Victorinox Climber. Carry it every day. Before that, I carried the Tinker or Spartan. If you need scissors, get the Climber or Super Tinker. You'll know which is right when you hold it in your hand.

Tell you what though, I love having scissors. Use them all the time for all kinds of stuff. I do enjoy wine, so I went with the cork screw instead of philips head this time around. Saved the day at a party a few months back, because nobody else had a corkscrew!

I don't know that you could go wrong with any of those. I want to be careful bringing up cost, but I don't think there is much of a price difference between alox Farmer and the Super Tinker (at least online).

Super Tinker, is my vote as well. If your traveling I-94 west through ND you'll pass right by my house. There's a HUGE quonset on the North side of I-94 in Valley City, I'm on the south side of the interstate across from the Winter Show, pictures in the "where's EARL" thread;) Drive careful:thumbup:

Of those, the Super Tinker (for the scissors) then buying the Farmer later on adds the saw to your SAKs!

Ya gotta think ahead! ;)

Assuming wherever you are buying from has comparable prices to the Internet - the regular Tinker will be the least expensive, followed by the Super Tinker. Huntsman and Alox Farmer are priced about the same. I'd go with the Super Tinker to get the scissors. It will save you about $5 compared to the Huntsman and Farmer.

I-94 East bound. GPS says I'm in Sterling, ND. I started out from Spokane, Washington.

JC57, Truck stop prices are a little higher than online, but no waiting or (sometimes) postage.
I'm not looking to get home until sometime next month, and to be honest, I don't want to wait that long to add the SAK to my daily carry, especially since I have a Gen-U-Wine SAK belt clip to hang it from :)

Looks like you are coming up on Jamestown, ND. There is a 24-hr Wal-Mart in Jamestown that sells the Vic Super Tinker with a leather belt case for $25.

I stand corrected...heading east toward the cities from the western part of the state the same applies...you'll pass my house on the way to Rodgers MN. You'll hit Jamestown ND, then Valley City is next about thirty miles east of Jamestown. I am appro one mile east of the first VC exit you'll hit. Again, travel Safe.

Hunter has a saw and big scissors, that separates it from other SAKs
also a pot holder on the back that is very useful tool for twisting wire

Outside of aloxes (particularly the pioneer) I'm a Huntsman fan. I carried one off and on for years. Saw and scissors are very handy and the small screwdriver tip on the can opener can handle phillips head screws also. It does it all for me. Pair it with a Leatherman and you will be unstoppable.

Cool! That will be about $15 or more less than the truck stop. I have it programmed in. Thanks :)

I'll toot the air horn when I go by. White IHC 7500 box truck with sleeper.

Victorinox Huntsman or Hunter?

I can soundly recommend the Huntsman as I carried it for a time in the Army.

Since cost is a factor, I say get whichever is cheapest. If one's on sale, that's the one to buy.

Do you carry this in conjunction with a full sized multitool (perhaps kept close at hand in your cab, if not on your person) or instead of having a multitool?

I find thinking about what I carry in my pocket in light of what I carry in my daypack to be helpful. I keep a full sized MT in my day pack, so I can get away with fewer tools in my pocket.

FWIW, I consider good scissors in my pocket a must have.
