Which sander?

I have a chance to get a Craftsman 4 x 36 or a 2 x 42 essentially for free, but I can only get one of them. Which one would be better for knife making and grinding?

Most everyone uses a 2x I still have my old craftsman 2x42 and still use it on every knife. But the KMG has taken over most of the jobs.

Thanks guys. What are the advantages of the 2 x 42 over a 1 x 42?

It allows you to cover more area so you dont get grooves cut into the blade, as well as allows you to go vertical and even everything out. I guess if your blade was only 1" wide the 1" belt would be sufficient. On the craftsman 2X42 you can run the 1" belts also though.
