Which Sebenza to buy?

I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger on a large classic Sebenza. My thread on Sebenza vs other customs was really helpful to me- you guys are a tremendous resource - and reviewing what's available, my budget, what I'll use it for, and my love of clean strong titanium framelocks, I'm on the verge of getting a large classic Sebenza. So now I'm soliciting opinions from those who have them... or hopefully those who have more than one. The wood inlay looks very nice - snakewood or ironwood particularly. But the micarta also looks great, and micarta is bombproof. Or... no inlay but graphics. How to decide? Yes, it's just a personal opinion, like which leather jacket looks best... it's just the personal taste of the person. I know that. But any input - like, about the durability of the wood scales, the feel of wood vs just graphics, that sort of thing, would be really helpful to me.

And I know everyone likes to talk about their Sebbies!

(note: I'm not asking to compare any other brands. Just different variations that the Sebbies come in)

That other thread went downhill fast after a while - pitty.

If you're looking for a user, I would suggest a classic with Micarta inlays. If you're looking for a "looker" then my favourite is Mammoth inlay. The graphics I don't really like, and the plain ones are just... well plain (don't get me wrong, still nice knives)

Kind regards,

Jos

I wonder how long it will take before somebody suggest a "better" or "cheaper" knife?

I like the feel and grippyness of the plain scale a lot. It feels all nice and futuristic.

I gotta tell you I am sooo tempted....

The other thread was helpful and may continue to be. Thanks for this one too!

I prefer the graphics. I just think they make it really nice looking without going over the top. I really am not a big fan of the inlays. But it has to do more with a matter of taste rather then function.

I love the micarta and if I were to buy another knife ( not any time soon I love the one I got)it would probably be a micarta sebbie.

Ok, I have no patience at all. But again, you guys have helped me.

I wanted an insert rather than a graphic. As I was looking at all the great pictures on KnifeArt.com, I was thinking, ah, that wood is so nice, so beautiful. But it's wood. Meaning when my keys or some random bit of metal scratch that wood, I'm going to be crying all over my new knife. Micarta has long been a favorite material of mine, and my keys aren't going to hurt it - nothing much hurts micarta. Then I checked the posts and already there's replies and guess what: all for the micarta. So I'm thinking my gut feeling was right.

Trigger pulled: large classic micarta is on the way! My wife just does not understand why I'm so excited, although she did give me the "I'm happy for you" smile (translation: you're insane but I married you smile). She's probably thinking "ten tanks of gas" or some such nonsense. ;)

I expect to be writing in a few days how I'm now part of the cult and where do I send my dues...

The new Sebenza 21 is just coming out. Might have wanted to get that. It's almost identical to the classic though.
