I know that the 301, 303, 305, 309 are still being manufactured and I believe these, unlike the wooden handled and brass liner variety, are still manufactured in the USA, but are any of the older models (307 - Wrangler, 310 - Whittler, 311 - Trapper, 313 - Muskrat, 315 - Sailor, 317 - Hunter, and 319 - Cattleman (with the leather punch)) still be manufactured?

Nope, I think all the those were contract knives from Camillus, and are now out of production.

That is true although eBay has just showed me two new ones I knew nothing about, a 380 which is a mini trapper under 3 inches long and a 382 which appears to be a trapper about the size of a 312. Both knives have rosewood handles and that plus the numbers make me think they are made in China. I wonder if there is a 384 to correspond to the 314 which is a full sized trapper about 4 inches long.

I found the "380" on Ebay, can't seem to find the "382",I did find a "372" that is a Muskrat pattern though is that the one you meant? but it definitaly has the look of the other "370" series China stuff.

I also noticed that both of these are the same seller.

EDIT: I found the 382, it was a "382BRW", that's why I missed it the first time.

I have to wonder, is Buck is introducing these new models, then why don't they tell us here?

Seems like the logical first place to let Buck lovers know about them?

The 382 had a buy it now and someone may have gone for it. I will have to search for the 372. I think a new muskrat would be cool. I have a 313 muskrat in my pocket today.

So it would seem that the formula is to take the old Buck 300 model number and add seventy to get the new Chinese Buck model number. 380 is a departure because 310 was a whittler, not a baby trapper and the 379, Single, is slightly different from the 309 companion. They left off the pen blade. A 372 Muskrat is just right out because there never was a 302. It is curiouser and curiouser.

Well, I had a look at the 372 and it is not exactly like the old 313. There are no cutouts in the handle for the low nail nics that made the 313 such a nice knife to carry. The clip blade is fatter, not so Turkish. I always figured that that long Turkish clip blade was one of the best features of a muskrat. I suppose I will have to get one but it ain’t no 313. Do they have muskrats in China?

Case would call a muskrat knife a moose. Maybe the Chinese are confused between muskrats and mooses. Word says that mooses is misspelled. I know it is not mease and mouse is something else too. I think it is just a mess.

As a general rule, I think it's:

Under 4 inches closed with is a Muskrat.

Over 4 inches closed with is a Moose.
