I'm a huge Becker fan. I have a Camillus BK7 and BK9 and KA-BAR BK2, BK4 and BK24. Im a newbie when it comes to knife sharpening. Can anyone recommend a good sharpening kit for the BK grind?

I have a video that's almost done on this very thing. Look out for it this week.

Looking forward to this one Rick, wanna know how to sharpen that BK4. So yeah keep an eye out for this, rick makes great vids.

For knife sharpeners I have the Lansky Diamond set and the Ken Onion worksharp. Both great gear, but still using stones!

And also welcome aboard, if you get a chance we love pics around here, would like to see your steel.

I use a Ken Onion Work Sharp and it has been real good for putting an edge on my Becker knives.
Just got the blade grinding attachment and put it on yesterday, sharpened my BK15 and BK9, man that attachment was definitely worth the money. Got my edge near perfect as I had more consistency in angle I held, both knives are the sharpest I've ever had them.

Haven't used any other systems but it's quick, easy and does the job quite well, it's one option you could consider.

What he said.... Works great and fool proof!

Yeah I should elaborate the ken onion is brilliant, only reason I keep going to to stone is because my blades generally only need one or two hits, but for a dull knife love the KE.

Yeah, I'm gonna try some leather and flexcut gold for touching up when I don't want to get out the work sharp out or if I'm in the woods. Haven't tried strops before, so I will see how that goes.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to pick up a KO Work Sharp. Is this 'all the sharpener' that I'll need? (I know that is probably like asking 'is this the only knife I need...') ;)

I started off using a Norton India stone.
Everyone should be able to freehand on a stone.
I tried the Lansky setup. Eh... Not for me.
I started using the Spyderco Sharpmaker with excellent results.
I did have to pick up the diamond rods though. They are great if the edge needs a little reprofiling.
I've never used the KO worksharp, though I assume it does great.
I have a Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander that puts a ridiculous convex edge on my large knives.

Spyderco Sharpmaker is my favorite for ease of use and great results. The diamond rods are a must in my opinion though.

Another vote for the Work Sharp. I have the original version and have not looked back. The Ken Onion version looks to be a better finished tool.

I'm surprised to see so many votes for the worksharp. I know it's a good machine I just thought there would be more leaning towards traditional methods.

I have a few videos of Jerry Fisk in my queue on youtube that I need to get around to watching.

KO work sharp vote here as well. Puts a stupid sharp edge on most my blades. I've tried a few times with Kuks (BK 4) and it definately takes a little more attention. For those types of blades I just use a broomstick handle wrapped in mouse pad and sandpaper........works great.

KME............

I've used the others......

KME all the way.
