I am cusrrenly using a Work Sharp Precision adjust to sharpen all of my knives. This does a good job but I am looking for something to touch the blades up with instead of pulling this system out. I have narrowed down my choices to the Spyderco Sharpmaker and the Work Sharp Guided Filed Sharpener. Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts Pros/Cons of each system sense I am still somewhat new to maintaining blade edges. Thanks for the help and input everyone.

If your considering the Sharpmaker you might look at the idahone products. Their V sharpener is 1/2 the price and has longer rods making it better for long kitchen knives or their honing rod is simple and ideal for maintenance if you don't need something to hold the angle for you.

Thanks. I will check these out.

I have the Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener and use it for touching up my folding knives. It works ok but I wouldn't recommend it for kitchen knives, it's just too small.

Check out Pete's review of it, he's a big fan. ('Cedric and Ada' channel on You Tube.)

Just use your WS Precision Adjust (for sharpening and touching up) and move on

Personally i have a nicer guided system than the WSPA, and also promoted the Sharpmaker after that phase (because touching up is all you need after 1x applying the WSPA). I ended up learning freehanding, and things have become too easy to draw anymore joy or satisfaction from the 'sharpening hobby'.

I am so skilled by now using the bit.ly/wdystoday that i can sharpen my knives just by looking at them, kinda like magic. 🤪
